So I am confused on the large amount of disinformation thrown around the internet. After suffering from thinking I have herpes for months, there are so many different sources out there of when to get tested. Some say 6-8 weeks after exposure, others say 12-16 weeks. some say 6 months, other say from exposure or symptoms. what is it? As someone who is about to get an IGG test at 13 weeks, can I even rely on that information? Or will I have to wait the dreaded 6 months of ever doubting any blemish or red spot on my genitals for another 3 months?
I’m kind of going through the same thing. I got a test done two weeks after exposure and I got a test done three months after exposure. both came back negative! I just got a test done at the five month mark which came back equivocal my IgG was 0.91. The cut off for the negative results are at 0.90. equivocal means The results were unclear. they told me my number could be a little bit high due to another infection. so they said they wanna let it run its course and they want me to wait another three months to retest. That will be almost 9 months.
I was told that results would be pretty accurate at the three month mark, but to wait six months to be absolutely sure that there is no infection.
so I’m going to have another test done at the six month mark and see where im at.
to make a long story short I Herpes test can be very difficult if you don’t have any symptoms. to be on the safe side I would say six months!
