When was your first genital outbreak? Did you know you were infected before it happened? Did your partner test positive? How long were you two dating? For me I have been in the relationship for 2.5 years and just had my first outbreak my partner tested positive and I was wondering if he has had it all along and I just caught it or does he get it recently. With me I was seeing the guy less than a month. We had sex about 8x in a 2 week period. From the first day we did have sex til 2 weeks to that day is when I noticed the bump. I went to the emergency room (Saturday) they said it was an inflamed hair follicle I said no it's not. I got checked for every STD including a blood test. Tuesday I was back in the emergency room cause the bump got worse this time they swabbed it. In the mean time I let the guy know but he's a true a**hole and won't cooperate with getting checked or rechecked because he's trying to say I gave it to him. However when I did finally get an appointment with my gyn she pulled up past blood work I was clear and she said with first outbreaks they typically appear within 2 weeks of being exposed to it. She said the only time it would lay dormant and magically surface out of nowhere is if u knew u already had it and was doing suppressive therapy and a trigger such as stress caused it to be active again.
Oh and his results were "benign" which to me doesn't make sense because benign correlates with tumors and such. And he won't get rechecked. I said there's no way I could have it and u don't even if I was the carrier.
If he tested positive for HSV IgG, then that means he already had it for 3+ months at the time of testing. IgM can be disregarded.
