When will all of this be over ? How long does this misery last?

We all complain about the same feelings

No appetite

Not being able to get out of bed

Weird sleep patterns

Anxiety

Crippling fatigue

Health paranoia

Depression

So on and so forth....

But nobody EVER talks about how long this lasts for .... it can’t go on forever can it ?

I’m not myself anymore and every day is like climbing a mountain ... daunting dark sad.

I see many women living normal lives ... doing things ... holding down jobs

When will we finally see ‘the light’?

Thank you for posting this, I too wonder the same. Let's hope it ends soon for all of us.

Yeah I just saw an acquaintance at the grocery store and we were talking about jobs and told me I should be looking for a better job--which I DO!!!  But I told her I can't get up in the morning or just plop back to bed for another hour or so..  She looked at me funny, like really?  She's older than me too.  How can I learn a new job, when it's hard to function already?   And 3 nights  in a row I was up from 2-4:30 am!!  Why?  I have no idea--  I begged my brain and body to go back to sleep but it wouldn't!!   I wanna be 30 again!!

Hi Lori - exactly how I feel, too.  I see women around my age seeming to be happy and enjoying life and I’m so jealous.  The hormones have to stabilize at some point.  This can’t go on forever.  Praying this ends soon for all of us.

Whatever you do girls DONT Google how long the symptoms last..... I just did, and I can't unsee it. I guess the answer is to find the right treatment. We may have to accept that this is the new us and start looking at getting the right hormone therapy. Seems like it could be a long journey for some.... I for one am not doing it treatment free! Big hugs ♥ xx

Hi Lori, I am seeing a new gyno on Tuesday... I am going to ask just to see what she says!  Then, I will respond again.  We should all just ask at our next Drs appointment and compare answers.  Maybe we can all get a laugh.  Let’s just hope it’s not infinity plus a day!  Ahhhhh! 🤪

I also see woman leading normal lives and it bothers me. I've been through a lot of symptoms, but lately I'm just plain old cranky and negative and I just can't shake it, I do my very best to keep my mouth shut as I don't want to spread it, but sometimes it comes out, then I feel guilty for being a b***h.

As far as working, I go every day, work as hard as I can, so don't let all things fool you ☺

It’s so cruel.  I do not sleep well either. Up 2-5 ish..sometimes night sweats.  I take out the dogs, throw some laundry in.  But at 6am, I can fall asleep no problem.  Need to be up at 7 though!   30 was great!  Never knew how good I had it 😁

Well as my mom keeps telling me .... you are ‘unique’ so it’s probably different for all of us . They can tell us when it starts which is 51 for most women and that’s when I started really badly .... so why can’t they tell us when it gets better ?

Sassy I know !! I think it said 10 years !! I started Peri I believe at 41 and have had 10 years of trying to adjust but it’s nothing like this ! I’m on the patch and helps with fatigue a bit but not the moods.

Thank you for posting, I feel the same.  I had to get on antidepressants 5 years ago at 50 years it helped!  Fast forward Im 55 and BOOM anxiety crazy symptoms again.  I had gone off the antidepressants 2 years ago.  Im trying to go the natural route with vitamin supplements but its a roller coaster.

I used to love to take naps, but now i cant... I'm tired but the feelings when I wake up are just not worth it. So I exhaust myself, drink CALM magnesium at night to try to sleep.

Ive stopped telling my family how miserable I feel...Im sure they are glad.  This is HELL and I really have no reason to feel this way- that even bothers me....I should be enjoying life now that there are no tragedies in it.  On a positive note I am starting to skip periods maybe for my 56 (in Nov.) my body will gift me with the end of cycles and hormone stability.

May God bless us

Well, seeing how most drs look at us like we are aliens when we tell them our symptoms.  It would also help if they could at least acknowledge that they are hormonal.  Instead of always pulling the anxiety/depression card.  Acknowledgement is the first step to treatment!  I was stunned to see a recent article that one of the planned parenthood clinic in NY is helping women beyond birth control and child bearing years.  They are now treating menopause too.  This is important and hopefully will catch on.  Women need to be educated on this!

Ladies, put this if you would like to read it...  PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S ROLLOUT OF MENOPAUSAL HORMONE THERAPY IS A SERIOUS HEALTH-CARE WIN

My best friend is having a hard time with post meno symptoms. I'm so lucky to have here in my life since she "gets it". Other than her, it's like a desert out there! Nobody, nada, zero women I know or have come in contact with have had anything more than maybe some hot flashes...! What's with that? Are they kidding me? Are the lying? Am I just a freak? When I'm out I find myself judging if that woman looks like she's  dizzy or flushed.... can't find a single soul out there that looks like she's dying inside like I feel like I am sometimes! I wonder if I look normal to people? I sometimes feel like I look like death or at a minimum, like I'm ragged and worn and barely hanging on! Maybe we don't come across as bad as we feel? I know there HAS to be other women at the grocery store than are feeling as crappy as I do!  I mean, statistically if you lined 10 of us in a row- 2 of us would be suffering from meno issues. I know I'm not the only one, but sometimes it sure as hell seems like it!

I've calculated and I've been in peri for about 6 years. I'm a couple weeks away from official menopause. My symptoms were awful for about 6-7 months last year. I'm slowly getting better but have had set backs. I was doing really great until mid August. Went to Hawaii and about a week after we got back, started feeling very tired again. My anxiety has ramped up a little bit as well, but nothing like it was. I was so bad before that I don't consider how I feel now as much to complain about BUT I really, really, REALLY don't want this to go on for much longer and I certainly don't want ( or plan) on this being my new normal.

Yes I agree! You can tell on somebody’s face if they are having a tough time . I know myself sometimes I don’t just look pale but grey absolutely no color in my face . I have 4 closets and wear the same sweatshirt and leggings everyday as just don’t have the energy to pick out an outfit and literally do not care !

You are lucky to have somebody else you know going through it . My one friend just gets bad hot flashes but is leading a normal life and my other friend has had her period on and off for a month but yes still leading a normal life .

I just don’t get it either only for the women on here I would have no idea that this is ‘normal ‘ for some

That's how I feel. When will I have my life back? It seemed like my symptoms had calmed down but these past two cycles brought back old symptoms I haven't seen in a long time. Blood pressure spikes, anxiety, heart palpitations, allergies. I'm not sure how much more I can take.

I live in NY. Which clinic was this?

Planned Parenthood...but it is good that they are bringing awareness to the  issue and will treat women.  Some of the women they see are confused enough about pregnancy...let alone menopause.

I hear ya! I’ve had 7 months of this intense craziness... they say nothing lasts forever but how I’ve kept it together I’ll never ever know . Once this is over and I pray that it is soon ... I will NEVER forget the DARKNESS that is menopause !

Same with the clothes! Rewind 6 years ago, I never even wore blue jeans back then. Always dressed so nice and well put together, hair, makeup, jewelry. Now, its leggins or sweats or Nik shorts and big comfy cotton sweatshirt! I have gone so far into the comfort zone that I don't even wear my own sweatshirts! I've taken my husbands size XXL hoodies, cut off the hood part and that's what I wear! I look like a skank... a comfy skank at that but wow! what a switch from just a couple years ago! Thing is, I don't really care either! Comfort is king these days! Anything tight on my body makes me crazy, so I go for loose and comfy! I just colored my roots that had grown out about 2 inches worth! I feel like that's a huge accomplishment for me these days! Sometimes I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and am horrified! 😳 I did just order several women's sweatshirts from Free People. I figure I'd spiff it up a bit and at least stop chopping my husbands hoodies up! Even got some with designs and colorful drawstrings! 😉 Woohoo!!
