I'm 48 years old, had a RTHR 8 months ago and a LTHR 10 weeks ago. Since I'm pretty young I'm sure I'll need a revision at some point. How will I know when I need one? What are the symptoms?
From what I have read here and on another hip replacement forum, pain that doesn't go away is the first indication. If you suspect problems, an x-ray that is read by a competent radiologist or joint replacement surgeon can indicate very clearly if there has been loosening. I've also read that joint replacements can last a very long time, up to 30 years or more. Generally, the more active a person is, the sooner they seem to need a replacement. Those who are doing ironman competitions and running marathons may need a revision much sooner than people who do normal activity. Good luck with yours, that it lasts a long time, Chris!

Take care of your new joint. Remember the restrictions. Never cross legs is a biggie from my surgeon. Of course stay active be mindful of your hip. It will probably out last the other one. My first hip is 17 years old and still doing well .
no worries I am thankful, for mobility! So put your dancing shoes on and celebrate ! 👠ðŸ‘
