Hi looluv im sorry but yes i think this is very common. My mother has had MS for about 12-14 years now and yes most of our family and friends stop trying aftr some time. Even my father stops trying to get her to do anything becaouse she just cant, or wont becouse of fear. It is hard to live with this condition at least in our case it has been.
Hiya Looluv,
Yes I have noticed that that some friends and family don't keep in touch once you have the diagnosis. Also what I find is really hard is that even members of my close family aren't that sympathetic i.e. expect me to do the chores or social events I used to do. Believe me I am not a whinger - just get on with what I can do.
I tell myself that since my 20s have never had good health i.e. ulcerative colitis, severe glandular fever and clinical depression. I am now 60 (diagnosed with MS 2 years ago) perhaps now with this MS diagnosis it is just a case of "oh your OK - don't be so lazy Mum etc" They must be mighty fed up with me not me being a healthy wife/Mum.
OK moan over.
I do think that, in the case of some people, you have to be blindingly clear about just what it is that you're dealing with if necessary, write it down, so you're at least getting it out. I find that my daughter seems to be in denial just what it is that's wrong with me, as if acting like it isn't happening makes it all go away.
Yes I feel the same way.
Hello . I understand,..and find people that do. It have MS do not understand,
