I was wondering when you are diagnosed with diverticulosis and you have reoccurring symptoms of diverticulitis, do they have to keep doing Ct scans everytime?
No they don't do scans every time. In my experience they
go by symptoms and you usually get antibiotics if they think
you are having a flare up.
The only time they do a ct scan is if they think it's worsened and something else is going on.
My experience was the same as Linda. I went 16 years between colonoscopy/scans. In that time DD went from moderate to severe. Each time I have a flare I just get prescribed antibiotics, and they only ordered the 2nd scan as the pain did not go and they suspected bowel cancer. All clear fortunately. This is in the UK. I think it's different in the USA where I have heard people get regular colonoscopies as a matter of course, in some cases yearly. CT scans contain high radiation, so I'm glad I live in the UK!
