When you're feeling blue ... what do you do?!

With the roller coaster THR journey, some 'off days' are a given.

What do you do to lift your spirits? Music is my tonic.

And what do you privately call your 'blues'?! Be creative.

Have a super day and ... be kind to your hips.πŸ˜‰

On my miserable days, like last night when i was in a lot of pain i have a little routine. Ill let you into my little "comfort world'

1.curl up in bed

2.must have my blankie and cuddly toy next to me (yes im 20, yes i still sleep with a blankie and cuddly toy)

3. Must have a cup of tea and a nice snack to hand

4. Usually put a something comforting on tv. I like watching the simpsons and southpark so i get quite relaxed watching them

5. Have my colouring in stuff to hand, a few hours if intense colouring really does cheer me up

Also if im upset i tend to curl up with the lizards. My little babies really do make me happy haha.

But yes thats usually what i do when im feeling down. I personally find colouring in so theraputic plus it helps take my mind of the pain and whatever is upsetting me.

Hope you feel better soon x

You are the sweetest woman! Thanks for sharing your 'comfort world' - such a great way to describe the concept and it is interesting how well you address all the senses in your world. Amazing.

I think you need to share a photo of your lizards - they have become forum members by association. Y ou must have named them ....?

How goes exam week? Are you surviving okay? It sounds as you are quite sore right now - is this from sitting for exams.

Big hugs Sarah.

You're so sweet Sarah. How's your back now?

Haha yes my babies are called Enna, Tango and Zeeba. My girl who i got first was called butters and unfortanetly died in Feburary, sadly the day after my surgery was cancelled so that was a very awful weekend for me.

I only have 2 exams, first exam went well, i am supposed to be jn my own room which i applied for and was rewarded. On the day i was in a room with 6 other people which means i keep disrupting people when i need to get up to stretch which really isnt fair on them. My next exam is the 9th, i have my first physio session that day to. Thankyou for asking. I get agonising pains from sitting but this pain atm im not sure what iv done. But its probably some of the worst pain i have ever experianced xx

Haha thanks. And unfortanetly still feeling just as bad. I lay in bed for an hour this morning because i was to scared to get up because when i did the pain ripped through my body. It was horrendous x

I couldn't have survived those first two weeks without a constant supply of Minstrels chocolates when I went for my afternoon rest, along with my heated lavender bag. Have now cut down on the Minstrels...😞

I had a constent supply of foxes raspberry jam and cream biscuits haha. Mmmmm

Okaaayyy ... this must be a UK treat! I think you have to describe it for 'us colonials'.

My treat of choice is dark chocolate covered ginger. But fortunately cost keeps me from indulging too much.

I got motivated to do a little baking yesterday for the 1St time since my surgery as a friend donated a fair amount of fresh rhubarb. After stewing and freezing some, I made some rhubarb ginger bars with a shortbread base. See Fig and Honey site or pinterest for a truly fabulous recipe. The flavours blend beautifully. Good thing friends are coming over today or I would definitely have overindulged.

I like the idea of the heated lavender bag. I have really enjoyed the lavender Aveeno (oatmeal based mosturizer with lavender scent). It really does calm and sooth sore muscles and irritated skin.

Omg Sarah. Have you been to the walk in centre ? X

No i didnt really see the point because i didnt think they would be able to do much for me. Iv got a phone appointment with the doctor next week so ill mention it then if its still as bad

So .. drat? darn? What do you say when this happens?

This kind of pain sounds like nerve pain or a vertebrae acting up. Either way ... nasty! I hope it clears soon.

Hugs,

Linda

Usually f@ck my life why am i so unlucky haha πŸ˜‚ and thankyou x

Bless ya. Like you haven't got enough to deal with !! X

I am grinning ...I am regularly told I have a potty-mouth!πŸ˜†πŸ˜ˆ

From where I sit, you have certainly had more than your share of health challenges in your life. But ... an indominatable spirit and a loyal boyfriend. Not to mention Enna, Tango and Zeeba!

Don't forget to count your blessings every once in a while sweet Sarah. You likely are fed up being told that, but I doubt you could have become such a 'scrapper' without being aware of these.

Xxx

Haha its more of i dont have a choice but to get on with things haha but i am thankful for the loyal mr and my little babies who really do make me smile cx

Classical music (I'm a Beethoven fan), our pets - an African Grey parrot and our cuddly long-haired cat, and when I was up and about and the sun was shining - going on long country walks, oh and endless mugs of good strong coffee..

I never called it anything, I didn't want to recognise it, I just wanted to be in a much better place.

Best wishes

Graham - πŸš€πŸ’ƒ

Good point Graham - will carry this thought with me going forward.

I've missed my cat old cat Eggroll during this last year. He died at 18 years and had a good life. He was a fun and cuddly cat who always responded to our moods and helped us unwind after a stressful day. Isn't it amazing how good a cat or (I can hear Sarah) a lizard or three can be!

Animals are great, non judgemental, always happy to see their owner, be they furry, feathery or cold blooded.

I have a number of strategies , some healthy some not !

I curl up in my bed with a good book and the dog at my feet and the cat at my head ( good)

I go shopping online ( bad)

I go to my gym pool at 8pm when its empty and zone out with the pool to myself ( good)

i drink wine , lots of wine ( bad!)

betwen them al i have / am getting through it ! But really its the support of my lovely other half , and the less supportive sarcastic approach of my daughter thats got me as far as this ! Being told to 'run, forest, run' when i was on two crutches gives you an idea - as you can see no ones allowed to feel sorry for themselves in my house when shes around xxx
