Where to go from here?

I'm 26 years old, male, and I've been suffering from GAD and panic attacks since I was 12. I have lived through many episodes, and thought that I was on my death bed many times before. My recent anxiety has been slightly different than in the past. I got injured by a careless forklift operator at work, and suffered injury to the left portion of my body, my shoulder, arm, back, etc. I went to the Hospital for that and got checked out. I got very lucky. For the first few days after the incident I was sore but still trying to function. One night while I was off work for my injury I had a bad panic attack while driving and rushed home as quickly as possible. I've been messed up since then. I actually landed in the hospital two days ago because I just couldn't bear my symptoms anymore. The dizziness and weakness and heart racing, trying to breathe but feels like you can't. Feels like the walls are closing in on you etc. I even have achey muscles and bones and tingling feelings sometimes. I take Zoloft 100mg, and it seems like it's lost its effectiveness. What should I do? Ive lost my job and i don't know how to get help. The ER just makes sure you're not dying and sends you on your way.

What about diability? Ask the doctors about this. They are the only ones who can get this ball rolling, and a disability lawyer need both, The er isnt the right place. You go to your own doctor, and psychiatrist.

HI jamie, perhaps you are having delayed shock from your accident,

After all it was a trauma you encountered and sometimes when we think we are coping well with bad situations, we find later on days or even weeks down the line the shock comes out in a different way.

I cant say that everything you are experiencing is anxiety, but I can say all the symptoms you have can be experienced with anxiety.

Try talking it through with your doctor, get him to check you out on a physical abd emotional level, just to be sure there are no lasting effects from the injurys you had .

Hello jamie

Did you report your accident to your GP and are you now on the sick.

If you has an accident at work that comes out on Health and Safety at work and you may be able to get compensation, See a Lawyer who speialises in these claims and get the ball rolling. You can also report your accident to CAB they will be able to advise the best way forward to make a claim.  You can also go to the job shop and they have a disability Officer who will possibly help you back to work.

I do not know when you had your accident and if at this time you are on the sick ?

All I know is given time your may need to appear in ront of a Health Board for a medical to claim the new benefit if you cannot do any type of work, hence the reason you need to take advice at CAB
