Which FODMAP diet is the correct one??

Anyone suffering with sibo and trying to follow a low fodmap diet: I NEED TO KNOW WHICH ONE TO FOLLOW! Every single chart I see lists different things, for example one website says broccoli is legal the other says it’s not. One says corn is ok one says it’s not, and it doesn’t say nothing about portion sizes either so I’m just super confused.

I'm confused, too, as have seen the same thing.  Also, sometimes diets for IBS & GERD conflict with each other.  Guess it's 'hit & miss' - just pick one to start & keep track of what  bothers you & what doesn't & then form your own.  I know coffee & chocolate often makes things worse for me, but not all the time, so careful when, where & how much I have.  But some days, no problems with those items.  I try not to eat any one thing in excess but, for err example, will have cabbage on St. Pat's Day - it may or may not bother me.  Sometimes, anything that I eat or drink bothers me.  Again, just start somewhere & adjust.  What bothers me may not bother you.

Hello Addie,

May I ask who diagnosed you as having SIBO?

Regards

Michael

There are specific diets for this that you can google.  The trick is to try one diet only for a few weeks to see how you respond to it.  However, you may find that you may react to the foods it tells you are safe or you are ok with the foods it tells you to avoid.  There is no one size fits all approach to this because everyone is different.  These diets tend to be very general. You will probably have to tweek whatever diet you choose to suit your own requirements.

The most acvuraye info will be from Monash university in Australia as they discovered the FODMAP diet

I agree - the list of Low Fodmap foods produced  by Monash University is the most reliable and comprehensive, but you will need to tailor your diet to your own particular needs. The first step is to identify your “trigger foods”,assuming you have any. For example, I am fine with small amounts of broccoli and cauliflower, but cannot tolerate anything with the slightest hint of onion or garlic. I can also tolerate small amounts of gluten, but avoid virtually all fruits.
