Which Hormone is Whacked??

Help me out ladies, I'm a little confused. I get a pounding headache in the back of my head that lasts for 2-3 days just before I ovulate. My reflux and indigestion is worse at this time too. Is this estrogen dominance? Low estrogen? Low progesterone? Thanks. Any help appreciated.

Hi Rhonda, I get the headaches too...My period has recently shifted to 21 days, so I never get a break!  I can tell you when I was on the mini pill (synthetic progesterone...progesterin)...the headaches were a little better.  But, that gave me other issues, so I stopped them.  Progesterone usually declines big time, which can lead to estrogen dominance...maybe ask your doc about that.  Also, chart what bothers you around that time, food, weather.  Example when the air pressure is high, my head wants to pop.  I have tried powder magnesium (raspberry flavor kind online) and made a hot tea before bed, helps a little.

I’m on an AD now, I still get them a week before my period, but they don’t last for days like before.  My reflux is under control too, for now.  Take good care😊

Hi Rhonda,

I am no expert but have done a lot of reading.  I also suffer from migraines and GERD.  Both ramped up considerably during perimenopause.  I am now in menopause (no period for 2+ years.  The GERD has improved; however the headaches have not.

I believe that progesterone contributes to GERD based on what I have read and estrogen to the headaches.  The drastic dips and rises of both and the general unbalance between the two during perimenopause really wreaks havoc on our systems.  It sucks - no other way to put it.  Hang in there.

Hi Rhonda, my reply is being mod...but, it is pretty much what Kim said 😊
