It seems persistant but fluctuates in how bad it is over days. Nn pain or discomfort.

Yeah it's oral thrush, you can use the medicine below (needs a prescription) or try and find a natural remedy online, there's plenty of information available

Definitely sounds like thrush, you can buy a tablet called Diflucan at any chemist, which should clear it up, sometimes you can get thrush from your partner, so she may have passed it on to you, and will need to take the same.
