I have been tested twice over 4 months after being on 300mg ferrous gluconate 3 times a day and my levels are still around 4 when they should be 100/150. I am not coeliac, that has been tested, my doctor said it will be due to heavy periods. I cant see this however as my periods are VERY light. Just hoping its not somthing underlying.
chEck your kiIdneys. This is what all the doctors missed
KIDNEY
The kidneys make the blood.
let Me know
Whilst kidney disease can cause anaemia, they do not 'make the blood'. Bone marrow makes the blood.
Your doctor should refer you to a haematologist if you are not responding to treatment. There are many conditions which cause aneamia.
Have you been checked for uterine fibroids? That's what caused my anaemia. I went downhill very quickly and it's taken a long time to start getting my haemoglobin levels slowly back up.
Good luck with whatever your diagnosis is.
Sorry. Kidney responsible for Red blood cells
