Why am I vibrating?

I’m 56 and six months ago woke up regularly with an odd vibrating feeling in my upper torso for weeks. I quickly checked my pulse which felt normal but it felt really odd. I had just been diagnosed with sleep Apnoa and the strange feeling went away after I started using CPAP, until a few weeks ago. During that time, I did have a few strange bouts of vibrations in my head, (back on right side accompanied by a few painful twinges on the top). Each bout lasted 3-5 days over a period of four months.

10 days ago, I woke up with that familiar vibrating feeling again in my torso twice. From then to now, I have had a constant deep internal vibration in my tummy (left side) which can spread out when I am lying down or extra nervous. It comes in waves and lasts about 20-30 seconds then my body feels quiet again, until the next one, a minute or two later. I feel it all the time and even during sleep. My anxiety heightens it completely and I am so scared its something terrible. It feels like my whole nervous system is broken.

Has anyone else had this type of thing?

Lisa, sounds like withdrawals. Did you recently have a medication change or stop taking a medication ? If not, have you had any problems with blood circulation before ? These are some likely causes. If no to both questions, call your GP and get some tests done to get to the bottom of this. The GP will put your mind at ease as they will surly get to the bottom of what is going on

I can tell you that internal vibration is extremely common with stress and anxiety. Mine started suddenly when I was in my 20s from overwhelming anxiety. I also thought something was terribly wrong but all my testing was normal. It continued off and on for many years but I realized what it was caused from and it didn’t scare me anymore. I found that when I had more anxiety I would feel it more. But then sometimes I felt fine and I still had it. I basically ignored it and it went away completely.
Just make sure you get your yearly check up at the doctor office and if that is OK, then you know it’s most likely from stress and anxiety. Long term stress does affect of the nervous system. It can produce hundreds of symptoms including the vibration feeling. So the more you relax your mind and manage anxiety, it should decrease. But when due to anxiety it’s not going to hurt you. Try some mindfulness meditations on YouTube for anxiety. I listen to these every night. but if you haven’t had a check up with your doctor that would be the first best step. Take care hope you feel better
