Hi all, I've been unwell for 8 weeks now. Started with a fever which lasted 3 days and then coughing phlem for a few weeks after that. I haven't slept properly since I got sick. I've been paranoid about the Coronavirus and only manage a few hours of interrupted sleep per night. Since I got sick I've been obsessed with my breathing. Including walking, sitting, standing, and lying down trying to sleep. I feel like I have to take each breath manually, otherwise I'll suffocate. I wake up frequently and sometimes when I take up I find myself breathing heavier than usual. I've been having very low energy. This has started to improve slowly and for the last 3 weeks or so I've been able to go for bike rides and last week started doing some light jogging. Although I do feel more tired afterwards. Doctor checked my lungs 7 weeks ago and again this week and said it's all normal. She thinks I might have had Corona but there's no way to be sure. The infection is already gone. This is what I notice: - When I by myself I pay attention to every breath - When I'm somewhat distracted I pay less attention to breathing - Few weeks ago when I needed to on the phone my throat would tense up before talking, but then I find it's not too bad when I actually start to talk, this has now improved and doesn't really happen anymore - This week I've had some meetings where I spoke quite a bit and didn't notice my breathing and didn't feel short of breath talking - When jogging or exercise I don't feel like I'm fighting for air. Due to my fatigue it is taking me longer to recover and I'm not as fit but I'm not struggling to breath. I do believe if I have to talk the whole day I would get tired though. So is it all in my head? Having to concentrate on every breathe is really taking the joy out of life! Thanks for any advice.
i am sorry you are feeling so poorly. It sounds like you have a lot of anxiety and i know its hard. Everyone here on this forum has some type of anxiety in one form or another so you are not alone. Sounds like you have had a rough 8 weeks. And the doctor suspects you had Corona huh? I would have freaked out after hearing that too.The good news is its gone now. I suspect you have a little chest congestion going on. You may want to try an over the counter decongestant and see if that works to make you feel better. I also have chest congestion for the past 3 weeks, but i have problems with breathing and my chest this time every year. Mine is caused by mold spores and pollen in the air. The mucus goes through your head and into you lungs and makes them hurt and makes you feel breathless especially excersising. It can lead to feeling weak as well as it can mess with your oxygen flow to your brain while you sleep, and extremities, and when awake as well. Body aches are common also. Does this sound like it might be close to your specific symptoms? if so, try an allergy/sinus medication and a decongestant and/or Mucinex (works really well at expelling phlem and mucus). Try it for a couple of weeks, if it doesnt work you may want to see your doctor again for another look.
Better consult doctor. If you think its Anxiety get ssri from doctor.
