So last october i saw my gp as i was feeling like i had a cold for a few weeks. She told me it was nasal polyps and was prescibed a steroid spray. However, 4 months later it was still the same so was referred to ENT today. He put the little camera thing up my nose and said i had a sinus infection and that they were crusty (?) he prescribed sterimar and clarithromycin. He then told me i needed a scan (!) but what ever for? Does he think something more serious is wrong?! Why would i be sent for a scan for a sinus infection?! I'm really worried, please help.
A CT scan?
I think so
A CT facial sinuses shows your anatomy and what area of the sinuses are infected so your Dr can prescribe the proper medications I just went through this
Thankyou amanda48965, so i shouldnt be too worried?
Hi Soobi...I have chronic sinusitis and the CT scan will provide more detailed information about your sinuses....I had that...Nothing to worry...It is a routine practice for an ENT specialist
Hi jello11529, thankyou so much, this makes me feel less worried now. What do you take to help with yours if you dont mind me asking?
hey Soobi, you can definitely ask me Well I had lots of rounds of oral antibiotics but It kept coming...So my ENT doctor has prescribed me antibiotics, antifungal, steroid and mucus thinner together in a powder form and I use it in a Neti-pot and rinse my sinuses every morning...That has reduced my symptoms but I would say I am not cured...So I am finding different ways to experiment
I was worried before my scan to the extreme but after it I felt so much better
Wow i never knew sinuses could cause so many problems! I constantly sound like I'm full of cold and my nose is constantly blocked, some days a bit better than others. When i lean forward i get a rush of uncontrollable clear fluid out of one side 😣 The steroid spray does help a little and I'm hoping the antibiotics and other spray help too. Would be great to breathe normally 😑
Hi soobi...Stay positive, it will work...I hd really bad pain due to sinusitis and this medicated netipot helps me and reduces my symptoms...Just be patient and believe that will work
