Why do I still feel so awful

I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid in may 2012 i thought that once the medication kicked In I would be back to my old self! I couldn't have been further from the truth if anything i feel worse. I constantly feel ill i've lost my zest for life i dont want to do anything all i do is cry. I know if i go to the doctors they will say its just my age. I was under the impression that an under active thyroid was no big deal i feel so let down and I'am probably depressed it if i was to be honest. Is anyone on anti Depressants and has it made a difference?

Hi, only just found this site myself. I was diagnosed feb last year and it took till August for them to balance my dose and for me to feel better. They have just upped it again cos its all changed again and I've been feeling yucky again. So if you are still having blood tests every 3months they may not have found the right level for you, go back and hassle you gp again, it does get there, it's just so slow. Totally simpathyse as I felt the same way and I still do sometimes. Take care, and good luck

Depends upon a lot of factors, you should be aiming to get your tsh to less than 1 and your free t4 to the top end of the scale. B12 needs to be high.... Over 600 and iron levels need to be good with ferritin at least 70. There are a couple of excellent thyroid forums.... Tpauk.com and thyroiduk.co.uk. Also read understanding thyroid problems by Anthony toft...... ItS produced in conjunction with the BMA and is available on amazon or in chemists for less than £5.

i feel yucky too. i only recently got an increased dose from 50 to 75. my old doctor wouldnt increased it i felt tired and he said it was fine. i have been told there is a delay in bodily reaction.ugh its frustrating. i had hoped by now there would be a change, that i would be feeling loads better.
