My doctor told me the same thing. That is why we have to educate ourselves and join this forum talks with everyone having different symptoms. But is very important to be on your meds to stop the disease from progressing and go in remission.
At the same time diet is very important ! I find that when I eat GLUTEN I feel worst so try to find products that is Gluten free it is more pricey but it's worth it.
And I tried biotene products did not agree with me I was getting more cavities and pain it is too sweet. At the moment I am using an excellent product name bioXtra it's from UK it comes in total oral care from toothpaste to rinses and spray to gel try that is excellent.
SS affects gastrointestinal that is why to stay away from gluten and all grains . I tried that and I feel much better.
Can any one tell me if you feel bloated after a meal?
Let's keep talking!
I was diagnosed with Sjogren's nine years ago, though I'd clearly had it for at least ten years before that. I've been lucky enough to be in almost total remission for the last four years - just an occasional bout of Reynaud's in my left hand - though I've been getting sticky, filmy eyes again for the last few weeks so I fear it may be coming back.
I feel perpetually bloated but I don't think it's connected with anything I eat or with Sjogren's. From contacts on other forums, I have the impression it's more likely to be a side-effect of taking thyroxine for my under-active thyroid (another frequent consequence of Sjogren's). This was borne out a few months ago, when I was unable to eat any solid food (and certainly not bread) for three weeks, following an accident that affected my throat. Throughout that period I was only able to eat a few spoonfuls of soup or yoghourt every day and lost 7 kg (15 lb), but remained as bloated as ever.
One possible explanation for this - which has been aired on other Sjogren's forums - could be persistent systemic candidiasis. Many patients report a link between the two conditions, though I don't think the doctors accept it. I've suffered from various fungal conditions all my life. Every few years my doctor prescribes systemic anti-fungal drugs, which seem to clear the condition up, but it always comes back.
My only gluten-related symptoms have been brought about by eating sourdough bread, which I've always loved. This was what seemed to cause my first Sjogren's symptoms almost 20 years ago. I've tried it once or twice since then but it always brings on terrible attacks of dry mouth - even during the current period of remission. I realise this blows the candidiasis theory out of the water, of course, as sourdough is actually recommended for candidiasis sufferers. But there's Sjogren's for you - more questions than answers!
Does anyone have problems sleeping? And pain in the spine.
I don't feel bloated as I eat hardly anything!
I have dry eyes and mouth, dry nose, dry skin, chapped lips, thrush, heavy mucous in mornings, peculiar tastes and I canst live without chewing gum. Life is awful.
