I have swelling in my hands, feet and knees! Ive never had it so badly and yet I have less pain, it seems very strange that as soon as I get rid of the pains I get swelling. I'm on MTX tablets and Cimzia injections and have been feeling really good for the last week or two. Any ideas why?
Hi Mary😀, i take blood pressure medication now because certain meds cause high blood pressure. It helps with the swelling hand. My knees and feet swell after I drive or walk up and diwn stairs. I hope you figure it out soon. Take care of yourself. Cheryl
People can get flair ups from things they eat. I think you can google an RA diet. But the main thing is sugar. At some point you can restrict your diet and then make notes as you add things back as to what are the triggers. For me it is too much protein, sugar, too much fruit, potatoes, glutenous foods, and starchy things like beans.
I have been doing more at the moment as since I've been on Cimzia I have been feeling better, bit of a wake up call I suppose.
Another thing I have noticed is my hands feel as though they have elastic in them that pulls them closed if I try to open them and the knuckles make a cracking sound. They are only comfortable if they are closed, getting a bit worried I will end up with deformed hands at this rate.
I to have this problem Mary. I'm watching your post to see if we can get a good answer on this. I've had RA in my shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands and fear it is spreading to my feet and knees. There is only a few times that i have ever swelled, it's weird but I have a lot of pain. How do you like the Cimzia injections? Any side effects from it?
I don't have any side effects from Cimzia, didn't like self injecting at first but getting used to it. Have found I get a bit more pain just before I'm due the next injection and it doesn't seem to have lessened this time after injecting.
