It's stimulant so if you take it at night it might stop you sleeping. As a major symptom of hypo is tiredness the drug works to combat this. I used to sleep most of my morning commute but since taking thyroxine (was previously over active and had radiation treatment) I stay awake.

JJ,

My partner sleeps very poorly when under-dosed. To the extent that if she really can't get to sleep she takes some of her usual morning thyroxine ahead of time. (Maybe 25 or 50 mcg, leaving the rest for the morning.) That often makes her sleep beautifully (and even a bit later than usual).

There again, she never has had the usually sleepiness and overt tiredness so often reported in hypothyroidism.
