why am I not able to do something today that was easy yesterday ? very frustrated today bend today is about zero why ? where is the logic ,going great yesterday but today it is almost as if I am back at the beggining. Any thoughts any one ?
Yeah there doesn't seem to be any logic at all!!! I experienced the very same thing a couple of weeks ago. For no apparent reason I couldn't get anywhere near the bend I'd had previously. I'm glad to say that now the bend is a little bit more than it was before so now feel much happier but u couldn't tell you the reason why it happened!!! Just assumed it must be part of the healing process. Try not to get to frustrated because I'm sure your bend will be back better than before!! Chin up!! 😉😉
thanks clarkey ! I am trying to be philosophical and acknowledge that there will be perfectly good reasoning , but,am truly fed up usually if I get fed up I go for a long walk ! not an option today. Thanks for your reassurance best wishes
I know the feeling Dotty ... just when you think you've turned a corner something comes a long and slaps you in the face!!! To be honest it's now getting on my nerves!! I was tearful before but now I get annoyed!! So many emotions throughout this process. Let me know how you feel over the next couple of days and hopefully you will be able to going for your walks again. Thinking of you. 😀😀
I am the same it is now seven weeks and my bend does not seel to be improving, straight leg okay just cannot make it out. Am doing loads of exercises but it does not seem to make much difference 12th May is approaching fast when I go back to see the consultant. Am at physio tomorrow so maybe he will have some suggestions - I am so glad it is just not me cos I get so fed up.
very frustrating isnt it, like you I am putting in the work but seem to be at a standstill with the bend, other aspects are going well though so maybe we are expecting too much too soon . I have always beleived that in general in life if you put in the work you reap the benefits, clearly tkr has its own rules ! !
it is soo frustrating, how can a bend go from 75 to just about nothing ? defies logic. To be honest if I had the energy I probably would have a bawl ! I am clock watching waiting for bed time to write today off (yes I know its only just gone 4) hopefully morning will bring better things .best wishes
I'm the other way, my bend is so comfortable but my straigthening is not and doesn't seem to be getting there. See the consultant for the first time in the morning..8 weeks on Thursday post op so I know its early days and very frustrating, boring. I have not had physio for 3 weeks as last time I went she wouldn't let me do the exercises because of swelling, massaged my leg and boy did it hurt... Advised me to see the doc, which I did next day and he put me on water tabs....now with only an upstairs loo, that is going up and downstairs 5 mins before required!!! at least a dozen times a day but got that down to a fine art Do the exercises at home and the only one that seems to work is sitting on a chair and the ankle on another chair and hoping gravity does the rest.We do expect to whiz through this as quick as possible and forget it is major surgery we have had, but with my left knee done 7 years ago it took me 6 months to get the bend right and then it was exercise bike every morning for 5-7 mins to get it going for the day..
Try drinking lots of water dotty. This is very normal, it means you need to rest, ice and drink lots of water. Also take meds when you need them. And as Winston Churchill said. KBO. (Keep buggering on). Good luck
Oh I feel your pain one day I can bend next day I go straight can't quite manage the two in one day but we are in for a marathon not a sprint which is just as well as I rubbish at both.
Chins up and remember stretch exercise ice rest chocolate
Ha ha .... love your sentiment!! 🍩🍩🍩🍪🍪🍪
14 weeks and going backwards - not sure why - swellling and very stiff - wondering if it is because I am driving a manual now. Anyone else had such an impact from driving? Yesterday I had to revert to one crutch as i could hardly walk at all, yet a few weeks ago i was great. The tight band, however, has still gone. Physio said it is stiff as my quads are weak - and told me to exercise and come back in 2 weeks. It's nearly a week and no change. Could it be a DVT? I was on a flight last weekend?
I met that wall yesterday, been fine until then, tried the leg straightening and boy couldn't walk properly last night....very stiff leg this morning so massaged with more oil than normal, going to ice now then heat....we will get there...somehow
OMG .... last night was in so much pain didn't know what to do with myself. I'm 11 weeks and everything was going great! Have been driving a manual car since week 6 with no problem but it does feel strange. There just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. I'm sure we are "normal" but it is very frustrating. Let's hope tomorrow is a better day!! 😉😉😉
Thanks Hazel ,good to know I am not the only one stone walling,I must admit to feeling really fed up, everything was going steady but now I feel that progress is totally halted. I will just have to carry on doing what I am doing and hope for a breakthrough best wishes
I massaged my thigh and used the ice pack, then the heat for about 2 1/2 hours this morning and I felt a lot better. Been walking around the chops this afternoon, went to the hair dressers and got my nails done, was chatting about massages and the nail technician who is Chinese massaged my neck and shoulders....while my nails were drying.....I feel great!
Hi dotty, I am only 5and half weeks post op but I am also getting really bad days for no conceivable reason. I am having the second knee done in two weeks. Hopefully things will settle a bit before then. Best wishes.
