why were you put on Sertraline?

hi all,

sorry in advance for the essay to follow...! although ive found this forum to be very useful so thought id share my experiences as ive never been on anti-dees before

im 24 and ive always been an anxious person - i stress out over every little thing. recently at work ive been overwhelmed with jobs and ended up doing two people's roles, mixed in with frequent changes within the service to help it run better (which ended up in a complete mess).

basically, it all got on top of me - i ended up frequently crying at work, and home, over the pressure of it all and also started snapping at colleagues. it came to the point where i literally 'lost it' one morning at work. i was hysterical, and just couldnt cope with anything. work sent me home and i knew i needed to sort this out.

i contacted my doctor who put me off on sick leave for two weeks, issued 50mg Sertraline and advised i see a counsellor.

my experience of Sertraline - ive been this anti-de for three weeks now. i initially didnt notice any effect. then after a couple of days, in the morning, i would yawn non-stop and my jaw felt like it was 'chattering'. i also started to get a dry mouth. and when asleep, my dreams seemed really detailed. i went back to doc for follow-up last week and he upped the dose to 100mg. same side effects as before, although the annoying thing is (sorry) ive not been able to climax  im not a nymphomaniac or anything! although im normally 'happy' with the end result with my boyfriend, if you know what i mean. so this is very frustrating. then over the weekend ive been struggling to sleep, which got worse as each night went on, to the point where now i dont get any sleep at all i lye awake for 7 hours, resting but not agitated, and very tired, although cannot fall asleep. im now exhaused and yesterday felt very ill - flu like. so im off work today feeling absolutely vile, and booked in to see doc today to see if its related. but unsure what to do

forgot to add: teeth clenching when in trying to sleep - its driving me mad and i wake up (well, when i was sleeping anyway) with an aching jaw and a headache. i have consciously sleep with my mouth open, and ended up dribbling everywhere

Hi Nano, am on Setraline 100mg - but I need half a sleeping pill to get to sleep at night. Get some from him. A fellow sufferer. mq7.

Hi mq7, thanks for responding back

ive just been to see the doctor and hes put me back down to 50mg and issued some sleeping tablets too. please god let them work, i havent slept since monday! hes also been given antibiotics as ive developed viral tonsillius - says i probably caught it being so run down with stress, and anxious about going back to work?
