'Gastritis' inflammation of the stomach can be acute ( suddenly) or ( chronic) if not treated and it can be caused by many different things : alcohol, NSAIDs, bile, h. Pylori etc. If the cause is determined, gastritis is curable. It sounds you had acute gastritis that now became long term, because the cause needs to be found so it can get better. The biopsy will show if the inflammation is caused by a bacterial infection that can be treated. I hope you find out and keep us posted.
