I also have pancreatic necrosis and I'm on pancreatic enzymes for life. I very rarely (less than 10 times my whole life, 26 now) drank alcohol, I only really drink on holiday. Will I ever be able to drink alcohol again ? As it works wonders for my anxiety and helps me enjoy myself on holiday I would hate not to be able to. Places I have read either say not to drink it at all (not sure if this is relating to alcohol induced?), or to leave it 6 months for the pancreas to heal. There doesn't really seem to be a definite answer..
Will I ever be able to drink alcohol again? (Several episodes Gallstones induced Acute pancreatitis)
if it were me (and this is my personal opinion so only take that for what it is) i would completely stay away from alcohol the pancreas is nothing to mess with, it is one of the most tempermental organs in our body and if it is already damaged alcohol will not do you any favors. i know its harsh and hard to even think about but your body will thank you in the long run ![]()
You are just 26, and you have got such digestive issues and you are still thinking of trying alcohol? Alcohol can cause digestive problems even to normal people, in your cases it can make it worse since you already have digestive issues.
Pancreas and liver when start showing problem, become chronic and don’t heal for a long period of time, which itself is not only frustrating but create stress and anxiety.
Also, your thinking that it can help you in anxiety is not true. In the beginning it looks like it is helping, but once you catch addiction, it masters your brain, and you need much more hire dosage of alcohol to cure anxiety.
So, if you have digestive issues, it can become a serious vicious circle. You start alcohol to enjoy and reduce anxiety, then alcohol may cause digestive problem, then digestive problem will give you more anxiety, and then you take more alcohol to try to cure it.
Better feel lucky you noticed alcohol is the root of your problem. And get rid of it completely for the rest of your life. There are million things there to enjoy holidays and become stress free. It’s just how you look at things.
