I had my 1st outbreak 3 weeks ago, I took all my medicine and all my sores were gone on my vagina. So me and my boyfriend tried to have sex, it was fine when you was on top but if he tried to do it doggy style it was very painful and if I spread my legs too far it was painful. So this morning I took a look & it looks like I have a tear. Am I going to get these everytime we have sex? I just want to have normal sex again. I want to do it doggy style or spread my legs. I think you probably had sex too soon. Also, you might want to use lube to minimise friction/tearing. The friction from sex can be a trigger for some people, unfortunately.

Yeah I'm pretty sure we're gunna have to use lube because he had a condom on & it was so painful. How long should I wait to have sex again?

I don't know how long exactly, as I'm sure it varies from person to person, but three weeks is how long a first outbreak typically lasts, which means you only just recovered, so you could certainly benefit from some extra buffer time. Maybe take it easy for a couple more weeks or go slow until things feel more normal again.
