I am now 12 days post op - total hysterectomy +BSO - have been told that as my treatment was for severe endometriosis, I should try to go without for at least a year!
I am 50, was already having the hot flushes and night sweats for 3 years prior to op! I was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas.
Hi I had the same op and it took my body less than 2 weeks to react. I began splitting down below due to AV, terrible hot sweats that meant I found it hard to even cook as any heat brought it on and irritability all lead to disturbed sleep. I couldn't wait the 6 weeks recommended before asking for treatment!
If you're feeling OK don't worry about taking anything natural remedies are always an option. Obviously Endometriosis means it can be stimilated by Oestrogen and this is probably why their asking you to wait so long which is understandable. But if you're suffering I can't see why anyone should its debilitating and your enjoyment of daily life can be affected.
I hope your experience will be more positive than mine. Good luck
Well I had hrt before op and because I had Everything removed I started to have bad hot flushes etc so got some hrt gel this time it all depends on how you feel
I am 8 weeks post op can't have HRT due to clots! Symptoms kicked in at one month 6/7 flushes per night which meant no sleep! I'm on a herbal remedy now and also a very low dose antidepressant! I'm down to one hot flush now and getting mostly a full nights sleep. I'm 47 and had no symptoms before TAH and BSO so was a shock! I go back to work tomorrow and feel ok
Hi I had the same op for severe endo and was put on livial until I could take proper hrt 6 months later. It's a steroid version of hrt but usable with endo. I didn't have any endo or menopause symptoms on it but it did make me gain weight and not sleep.... you may not suffer in same way but for me it was too much and I went onto hrt 3 months not 6. When I spoke to consultant he said it's only a new thing for this break so 3 months should be fine.... ???
I wasn't told I couldn't take HRT - it is preferred to wait 6-12months post op - for any endometriosis left after op to die and not be fed with hormone! I must stress that at this time (14 days post op) that I am not suffering with my hormones! For this I count myself extremely lucky! Taking it a day at a time. Many thanks for your response.
I don't know which is worse having hot flushes without hrt or getting rid of them and being on hrt lately I've had a bad two days with swaying about and dizziness
