Dad had robotic surgery Jan 16. Had his 6 week check up it has spread to lymph node. Just when thought all was gone. What now, is it serious if it's in lymph nodes?
Sorry but I believe there is still hope. Others will respond.
Hi Louise - sorry to hear about your dad but don't give up. My hubby is 66 and last September had a PSA blood test which came back at 976. We were devistated but the family had to put on a brave face for him. After a biopsy and bone scan we found out the cancer was advanced and spread to his back and hip bones.
He is being treated with hormone injections every 3 months and his PSA has now dropped to 17. I know that's still high but not compared to what it was. The hormone injection seems to be working and in himself he is feeling do much better apart from his hot flushes. We know at some point in the future things will probably flare up again but we are making the most of every day.
Thinking of you and you're dad.

Sorry to hear that. The lymph nodes that are diseased can be removed and he may need chemo and radiation treatments to get rid of the remaining cancer. I hope it works out for you all. It doesn't mean that all is lost, it means that his fight isn't over yet and with some help from his doctors he will get better.
Never give up. This is just another obsticle to deal with. And there is still time to do research. I would start by asking the doctor - 'if this were you, what direction would you take'? Hopefully he will recommend a good treatment plan based on your dad's overall health and age. I wish you the best. Charles61038
