Will it ever stop??

i HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH MINIERS DISEASE /. iT IS NOW 2 YEARS WITH INTERMITTEN BOUTS OF VERTIGO, ALMOST CONSTANT BALANCE PROBLEMS AND NAUSEA. i HAVE BE TO BALANCE THERAPY AND CONTINUE IT AT HOME WHICH IS THE ONLY THING THE DOCTOR HAS TOLD ME WILL HELP THE SITUATION. ALSO TAKE ATAVAN FOR THE DIZZINESS. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING SINCE I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL GET WORSE OR BETTER. HAVE TO STAY NEAR HOME. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS

Hello Serena, I too have been suffering with Vertigo, Tinnitus and Balance issues. It started about 2 months ago, my GP thinks it's Menieres. He has prescribed Betahistine and also gave me exercises to help with the balance. The exercises are intended to make you dizzy and train your brain to cope with the problem.

I also had a stroke 3 years  ago, the symptoms are similar and it is hard to determine whether what I am experiencing is down to one or the other.

I have memory issue which don't help with my confidence. It has been worse since the onset of the Vertigo and I don't know why. It's all very frustrating.

I hope you get your problems resolved soon

Pauline

Betahistine did not work for me Actually nothing has as of yet

Hi Serena, I've been suffering from Ménière's disease for a number of years, I really feel for you it is a horrible, debilitating  get disease. Menieres does eventually burn itself out! For many of us though the symptoms are unbearable. Personally I was on Serc tablets, betahistine tablets but with a different format for years they worked really for me. Then MD became worse and on many occasions the doctor had to come out to give me an injection. I then had Grometts in my ears which worked fine for just over a year. Eventually I had to have Gentimicin treatment, that stopped the attacks. My ENT told me that I would need further treatments but so far I've been fine and hopefully it will stay that way. So there is hope Serena. Don't give up, take care
