I'm on 7weeks on flu to help with repetitive/racing thoughts and anxiety. I'm feeling discouraged as I feel the Med isn't working.I'm on 40mg. What should I do?
Hi Brittany
it took 4 months for me to feel any real benefit..I was on 10 mg for 2 weeks and 40mg thereafter.
i take them for anxiety/panic attacks. I m not anxiety free but much better now. I tried cit before this but after 7 weeks my anxiety was worse so swapped to prozac. I persevered as I didn't want to try another one. I m now glad I did. It seems it takes longer in some to work. I think katecogs would agree!
good luck x
Hi Brittany
You're at the point where things 'should' start to improve - a gradual decrease in your symptoms. It does take time and it seems to work at a different pace for each individual.
I'm not sure that Flu works all by itself - but I don't know because I did work on myself. As your racing thoughts seem to be your problem, I wonder if distraction would work for you - keep your mind busy doing other things rather than giving it time to race. Now that Spring is here, could you go for walks, for instance - and give yourself mental tasks while walking, deliberately observe where you are walking, say 'Good day' to every third person you pass. Doesn't matter how silly - just distract your racing mind. Movies. House cleaning. Whatever works for you to give you some respite.
Please don't be impatient - it takes time to recover from anxiety. Treat yourself gently and lovingly.
Thank you.I have racing thoughts and anxiety like I can feel all my nerves rushing through my body and my heart is always racing I'm going too see if they will add proponal to the mix. I suffered a nervous breakdown a year ago and it took me months to seek help.it sad o frustrating because I used to work in mental health and this happened to me
