Will the tiredness ever go?!

Hi,

My mum has started taking mirt, side effects like weight gain are more than welcome, the only issue we are having is that she feels tired and groggy a lot at the moment, sleeping in the day etc.

I was wondering if this will subside?  Or is it going to be a permanent fixture?  If it is, does anyone have any tips on how to help it shift?  Its welcome during the night but dragging her down a bit in the daytime.

She has only been taking the pills for 9 days and already the change in the rest of her is AMAZING!

It sure does create a great tiredness, but only immediately after taking it. I take it at 9.30 pm and by 10.30 pm I'm asleep.

Huum, I found a higher dose, ie 30 mlg was better for me, up to 15 mlg was very sedating for me and according to my doctors with this medication sometimes the less you take of it, the more side effects ie sleepiness, weight gain, etc, it's strange i know but apparently this is the case with some people, i suggest your mum talks to her doctor if this continues after couple of weeks.  good luck.

Yes, this tiredness will subside, though it may take a few weeks. I thuink it was 6 weeks before I felt I could function normally in the mornings. Though every day the length of time I was drowsy for reduced. I am pleased your Mum is feeling better in other ways though. Mirtazapine usually works very quickly if it is going to at all, and so it sounds like an ideal drug for your mother.
