hi had gentomisin injections to kill everything off, which made me ill thought I was doing great am now finding after about 7 weeks my balance is all over. Worse tinnitus, ear pain and nauseous. Really don't know what to try. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, you sound like you were not told about doing retraining balance exercises afterwards
I had Gentamicin (by surgery) in 2004 (a pump sent small amounts of the drug through into the middle ear and killed everything off over 9 days) About 3 days after having the tubes etc removed I couldn't walk a straight line, I still have trouble and use a walking stick to steady myself. (I have now got MD in other ear which doesn't help my wobbles)
You need to look at something - a + on the wall or the end of your thumb with your arm held out in front of you, and move your head from side to side while keeping your eyes focused on the + or thumb. Start off slow- you may feel a bit dizzy at first, but try to build up to several minutes at a time.
Other balance retraining exercises are available from the Meniere's Society along with more information
I have been doing some exercises which have helped a little I will give the exercise you have given a go. Hopefully things will get better. Many thanks
I have had same experience and it was awful! Had rehab for severe balance problems,, and nausea. After three months balance is better but still had nausea. Dr gave me rabeprazole dr . No more nausea. Still have some balance problems but. Much better. Nancy
