Will this feeling ever get better?

So been having these intense seizure like episodes for a while now yet the neurologist I went to see won't do another Mri since one was done in 2014. I keep getting these intense episodes of panic which can last a couple of seconds my vision goes a bit blurry or hazy and everything around me feels dreamlike yet. These are getting more frequent and stronger last night I had one so intense I felt like death. I don't get chest pain but got like a massive cold and hot flash over my body but it's over in a few seconds. Can anxiety really cause this even when i was a bit more relaxed?

P.s. I have a phobia of seizures and it's almost constantly in my mind but I am scared I have developed it and my doctor is just ignoring it as anxiety even though online people suggest seizures

Jonathon,

As you have been told many times, these are all symptoms of anxiety and panic.

They are very frightening.

Because you have googled your symptoms you have become fixated on the thought they may be seizures.

I'm sure that if your Dr thought for one minute that this was the case he would of referred you as urgent!

It is very easy when we have these horrible feelings to convince ourselves it must be something else, I know, I even said to my own Dr " what if it's not anxiety "....... but it is, I have chronic anxiety and was at crisis point.

Are you taking any medication?

Hi Karen I really hope your right but doctors can misdiagnose a lot of the time. I am on citalopram 20mg.

If you fear seizures and have read all the symptoms and match my own as identical to simple partial seizures then how can anxiety do this? I am in a constant anxious state but when these waves come over me they can last seconds and then fade until the next one.

The other thing I get is a lot of random memories/dreams randomly pop into my head which again are related to simple partial seizures.

How is it possible anxiety can cause this?

If you've only just started taking Citalopram, your symptoms can feel worse for a while before they feel better.

I convinced myself many years ago that I had numerous different illnesses, all because my symptoms 'fitted' them.

I agree Drs do sometimes get it wrong, but it is very rare.

Maybe you should go back to your Dr and talk again about your fears, I'm sure he will reassure you, that the test he is sending you for is just to put your mind at ease, not because he thinks you have this illness.

Have you ever had a fear about seizures does it not scare you? I think it's these auras i am getting that are so frightening.

Can anxiety really do all these weird symptoms?

I have never had a fear of seizures.

Yes anxiety can do all this and much more.

Thanks Karen but Do you believe that worrying about all my symptoms and my phobia of epilepsy can create them physically?

Plus I am scared they won't do an MRI as they don't feel necessary but their doing an EEG but I've heard that can be normal in most epilepsy patients unless your having a seizure at the time of having the test.

Please can more people share any advice on what I can do or what this could be? I have heard epilepsy is so difficult to diagnose

No Jonathon, I don't believe worrying etc about having epilepsy can cause it.

I'm not a Dr, but I can't see how that would happen.

So something is going on in my brain causing these weird symptoms?

Yes Jonathon Anxiety!!!

Have you read the symptoms of a simple partial seizure? All mine match that's why My concern

Please help give me some answers on whether this is caused by anxiety? I need some more answers what does people think?

What do you want from people on this forum Jonathan everyone you have spoken to have told you they think you are suffering ànxiety you won't believe them.

I do believe you all I just need the reassurance because these symptoms are happening and more frequent which I am scared in case it's seizures their going to progress

Your symptoms are getting worse as you are constantly stressed and worried.Jonathan you are the only person that can help you.You are driving yourself mad.Who have you with you l hope you are not on your own.

I am on my own most of the time while my wife is away at moment I'm really stressing I wish I never had a fear of seizures weirdly no other condition scares me but probably coz all my symptoms are simple partial seizures what scares me is they can progress to secondary generalised

You are not having partial seizures you are not a doctor or a neurologist. You are consumed by fear and you really are convinced that your phobia is going to happen.

But I read other websites of people who have same symptoms and it turns out to be partial seizures Marleen?

Do you really believe that neurologists are so useless at their jobs that they would not have rushed you through by now.

Forgot to ask why did you have an MRI scan in 2014?
