I bought some distilled witch hazel (topical astringent) with some alcohol in it. Is that the right product? I really want to get on top of my sore swollen clit. Sigh
I tried it just last week because I read that some ladies use it with good results. Immediately, I had a terrible reaction . I looked as if I had been burned in all areas I had applied it. But I don't know what to recommmend since I am still trying to figure all this info. out myself. Post what you use when you find something.
Best of Luck.
thanks for that. I think I bettr b careful. So much irritation already.
Witch Hazel is an astringent and I think it would be very sore indeed - especially if applied neat. A small amount diluted with water would probably be OK and then you could gradually increase the concentration until you get to a point where it calms things without stinging. I have never used this myself and would be most wary however. I prefer bicarbonate of soda washes after every visit to the loo. I dry myself meticulously afterwards even using a hairdrier if at home and apply Dermovate (Clobestasol in the US) if things are flaring, or conconut oil/fatty ointment if I just need to keep things moist. This improves things and keeps it under control.
Thank you. Appreciate all the advice so much. After sex last night it definitely got worse
Hi,
i use the witch hazel neat and have no problems. I think different people manage different lotion and potions, whatever works best for you. Good luck
wouldn't the alcohol burn?
I use the clear caladril like my mum used for chicken pox. Stops the itch, I also put on a triple antibiotic cream (over the counter) to help heal and all of this does help without using the seroids. I found that the steriod ointment was thinning out the skin.
It will work...however, it will sting a bit. I've used it in a spray bottle this way and it will make you wince...but calms down rather quickly...especially after patting dry and applying a dab of the aloe vera gel. You can find the pure witch hazel in some health food stores...I dilute this with 15% purified or distilled water in a small spray bottle...it won't sting. You can also find it on amazon and have it delivered to you.
Manuka honey 15% or higher also has amazing healing properties...medically acknowledged. If I'm sore or have a split I use a pea size amount (recommened by another contributor) at bedtime and slip on a pair of cotton panties. Depending on how bad I am it sometimes only takes one night...but other times 2 or 3 nights of use. It is expensive, but a tiny jar will last a long, long time. I take the small amount out with a clean cotton swab.
That is so painful, physically and emotionally!
thanks for empathizing.
Witch hazel...100% usually does not sting...it is just soothing. Some hospitals use it on pads for stitiches after giving birth. If it has alcohol in it...then it will definitely sting.
I thought it always contained alcohol
The only place I put alcohol is in my mouth.......
The lower regions are for other things
Would u put it directly on clitoris?
Your kind understanding meant so much. It has been painful to have this new diagnosis. My husband was sad that our sex had hurt me. I didn't know I would suffer like this for it. This forum has been so helpful.
Oops I thought I was doing a private email to Margaret. Pardon me!
Most of what you find in the stores does have alcohol in it. It is more difficult to find it without...but you can find it in some health food stores and also over the internet. They add the alcohol to extend the shelf life. Without the alcohol it has about a 1 year shelf life...which is plenty long enough if you are using it on a regular basis.
No worry...most of us here have suffered this disappointment in our sex life. Research the Mona Lisa Touch...there is a forum on here that is discussing this procedure and several women in the first stages of the treatment that are sharing their experience with it. It is supposed to be helpful with LS in restoring your ability to have comfortable sexual relations again.
Yes, you put it anywhere you are having issues. It is sticky...which is why you want to wear the cotton undies. If it doesn't work for you (but it should)...you can always use it up on your morning English muffin.
