Last time i went in for a total knee they did a femar block and epidural and that really worked good, I think with this revision i will ask for the same thing, but they had a really had time controlling the pain post op, any ideas??
I had an epidural but it didn't work so had to go under :-(. In recovery, my blood pressure went down to 30, so for a day and 1/2 I couldn't have any strong pain meds :-(. Next surgery I will b put under. Was disappointed I heard that way is so much better
good luck
Hi april
I had the epidural my surgeon said its the best thing because the pain relief lasts longer after the surgery.
Hi April...I had that done both times around and it worked good but eventually when it wears off definately need to stay on top of pain meds to get thru first couple of months.Hope your doing ok.not a very easy recovery but down the road is worth it.
Mine was under that, but I crashed coming out of theatre. However it was easier to come round from and easier to get up and walking after
Hi April, I had my TKR back in May and they did a nerve block. I was sent home with a cather/ nerve block to help with the pain but the valve leaked so I had to pull it out the first day. I think the nerve block was a good method but I developed a hypersensitive knee and leg. My surgeon claimed I was the first to have this happen, this sensation has just about gone away but it was bad for over three months. Good luck and and be sure to use your pain meds to make your recovery somewhat pain free.
Thank you, i had a catheriter with my shoulder when i went home , i did not know they do that with the knee, thank you for your advice.
