Withdrawal on venlafaxine

Hi everyone Just looking for some advise. I've been on venlafaxine for 10 weeks 75mg but they made me feel worse. I went cold turkey about 4 days ago and I feel awful my head is so dizzy it's hard to stand feeling sick and having chills is this normal? And does it last for long it's horrible. Thank you

Hi! Yes withdrawal from venlafaxine can be horrendous. I experienced brain zaps and felt grim for awhile. Its a strong old drug so does take time to get out of the system. Cold turkey will exacerbate the withdrawal symptoms. Hope you feel better soon. xxx

Laura,

Sadly, this is normal with antidepressant withdrawls. I’m in the tail end of mines. I stopped in July 14 and I’ve experienced rather scary symptoms. Though, as time has gone by the symptoms have slowly calmed down, though they’re there still. For me it was headaches/head pressure, visual disturbances, dizzy and or off balance, rashes, skin breakouts, hives, hyper sex drive, anxiety, depression, crying spells, chest palpitations, indigestion/heartburn, constipation.

I’d recommend on going to the website, survivingantidepressants, and post your detail story. People there will do their best to help you out and give you some motivation through this hellish process.

Thank you for your replies and sorry that you have experienced it so bad. I wish the doctor would have told me this affect before I started them because I think I would have thought twice.
Because I’ve only been on them 10 weeks then stopped I suppose I thought the withdrawal wouldn’t have been so bad but its horrible I just can’t wait to feel myself again xx
