Withdrawal symptoms and pregnant!

Hi everyone!

Back in May 2014 I started in Sertraline 50mg once a day at first I hated the tablets I felt worse I Ben had to be put on Diazepam for the 2nd week too due to the side effects! I then started to feel great I can honestly say the Sertraline worked I was back to my normal happy self.

Just over a week ago I found out I was pregnant! This wasn't planned as due to a lot of previous miscarriages I got told to stop stop the Sertraline immediately... Basically go cold turkey. I asked if I would get withdrawal symptoms and the doctor said maybe or maybe not as I had only been on them month.

Now I don't know if I am having withdrawal symptoms or pregnancy symptoms! My poor other half is getting the brunt of it. I got from feeling happy to crying to anger to frustration. I have just started a CBT course and wanted to know about anyone else that has had these 'possible withdrawal' symptoms or CBT

Sorry for going on and on.

Thanks for reading

Hi, I've had everything you've described and more. Symptoms do go away, I'm 10 wks. off and it took 6 wks. to finally get over most of the withdrawal. I was on much longer than you. Good luck

Lisa there is a forum on here pertaining to withdrawl symptoms.   I've been off 150 mg since Dec.  I was on them a year.  I started the taper in Sept.  I'm still having w.d. symptoms.  I awake with nausea some mornings, have crying spells, stomach pains, loose bowels, and I've been off 6 months.  This stuff changes your brain chemistry.  Some people on the forum I mentioned, are still experiencing w.d after a year.  Everyone reacts differently.  I hope your journey is shorter than some of us.  Good luck with your pregnancy.

Bless you! That must be really tough! Although I've been on meds on and off for 14 years now and managed to have two beautiful kids, I have never had to go cold turkey. Very brave. I hope that you have some kind of support in place, because if prone to depression, it can sometimes lead to post natal depression. Not meaning to worry you, but there should be some support available to you. As for the CBT, it is wonderful, but I was dubious at first that it would work. Stick to it to get good results. All the best
