Could anybody help me. Im having a really rough time. I would like to know when withdrawal from this stuff is going to peak? Especially as I had to come off it pretty quick!
Hi Alison
Withdrawl should be done slowly to lessen the side effects, but when I came off it last year I think the withdrawl effects lasted a month or 2, with the peak of it lasting around a couple of weeks. The worst side effect I found was the electric buzzing feeling in my head. Very weird.
Stopping this medicine abruptly is not recommended as it will make you feel really very ill.
How long have since you stopped now?

Hi katecogs.
I had to stop them due to extreme side effects. I lowered my dose from 20 mg to 10 mg and took that lower amount for 17 days and then stopped. It has been 20 days since my last one and yes I feel awful but I also feel really strange! Almost trippy kind of feeling....im hoping this is normal for stopping so quickly and that its going to improve bcus its not helping the anxiety!
Thanks for replying
Yes those feelings are normal withdrawal effects. Mine continued for about a month I think, not bad all that time, but some lingered around for ages. I think it was the buzzing head that was the last to go, which I found the worst. It was like someone kept zapping my brain with an electric current ... really strange feeling.
It will all disappear in time.
Ive just started to reduce mine so am expecting some weirdness soon. Just want to take a lower dose as I used to.
Thanks katecogs.
Can it make you feel like you are tripping like on some horrible drug when u stop taking it? Im absolutely petrified of the feeling!
Hi Pat
Unfortunately im not good with anything thats alters my brain chemicals!
I was just wondering at what point withdrawal symptoms peak....I really could do without it getting any worse
All the best to you too
Yes it can make you feel a bit like that. Don't be frightened of it though, you won't come to any harm. Just treat yourself gently whilst you wait for it all to pass.
When I reduced mine I went from 20, 10, 5, then 5 every other day, and lastly 5 every few days until I stopped. The slower it's reduced the better it is. Think I withdrew the tablets over a month.
But you've been 20 days now without so am sure you're through the worst now.
Im still feeling really trippy. I was so frightened this was psychosis or something. Im also still getting headaches, really horrible tingling in my head! Quite bad nausea and very dizzy. Aswell as other things!
Hi I am not sure withdrawals peak as such, but they can go on for quite a time.
Hi Alison hope ur feeling better, I was on 20 mg a day for 3 years and two weeks ago just decided to go cold turkey , the withdrawal symptoms havnt been to bad I get night sweats nightmares and the brain zap everyone mentions it's like an electric current sapping in ur head very strange mine are just building up now and have quite a lot through the day at the moment but hoping it will calm down in a week or so
Went from 30mg to 10mg as I felt fantastic, what a mistake to make went from 10mg to 20mg and had to admit defeat. I am now on 30mg again think you have to ,is ten to your doctor. This is a .ong term treatment which will take time to come off. Learnt the hard way!
Hi I was wondering how it was going with the withdrawal?
Hi I'm doing really good no problems at the moment the nightmares and sweats have stopped and I feel great , still getting a lightheadeness now and again though but it's not bothering me at all, iv lost my appetite abit aswell I don't seem to be eating as much. How are you doing now
Good to hear....im terrible. I always suffer from extreme withdrawals! Makes me wonder why I even bother to try the damn things! I always end up feeling worse than before I start them. Oh well must plod on ey! 😃
