My partner has been on Effexor for a long time (15 -18 years) and I think it's time for her to finaly withdraw from this drug. I was just reading 'oz82' and would like to see if this method would work for my partner. She took Effexor at first at a of rate of 600 per/day, but was put on the dose of 300 per/day and has been on that until about 4 months ago when she reduced to 150 per/day on a recommodation by her doctor. Has anyone been on Effexor for a long time, or known of a situation like this?
Hello
I would highly recommend reading what i wrote on coming off effexor.
To me it's the only way to do it with little side effects.
I'm not to familiar with this site so i don't even know how to go back and see where i wrote it.
Julie
I withdrew from 150mg Effexor, and so I did not get any withdrawals I took my time. Took me 10 months, and I was fine. Have bow been drug free for 18 months. Must withdraw very slowly. The higher the dose, and the longer a person has been on it, the longer they should take to withdraw.
I hope your partner is doing well. I was on Effexor for 9 years, and over a 30 year period have been on quite a few anti depressants. I am doing pretty good. I have nbot read oz82. What was the advice?
Hey Julie. I see you withdrew from Effexor like me. I did not get any side effects as I did it slowly. I presume you did too. Well done to us both as not easy.
IV been on 150mg for 8 years. Tried to reduce once to 75mg however my depression returned. I think everyone is different. I commenced on 375mg originally 12 years ago, so taken Effexor along time. Hope this helps
I did stop Effexor once cold turkey and my depression returned after six months. This time I took 10 months to withdraw and it has not returned. Just a few ups and downs. I know sometimes depression will return. Happened to me time and time again over 30 years. If we reduce really slowly I think that really helps.
