This is a common symptom of anxiety and not one to be feared as when you try to catch your breath it's usually made worse.
Deep breathing or simply distracting yourself should clear this up faster next time.

Hi Brenda. Do you typically deal with anxiety and panic? Mornings can be especially hard for these disorders. I often wake with immediate symptoms of anxiety. It's an awful way to start the day. Try some deep breathing or watch a show to distract yourself. My therapist always reminds me that our blood sugar is low in the morning and that can mimic anxiety, so perhaps go get your something to eat like a banana.
