Woodland walk

Hi everyone, a quick update as I was super excited this morning! 4.5 weeks post-op & I went with my dog (& hubby) to our local woods for a walk. I used my trekking poles & they were brill! Only managed half of it with a pitstop at the local farm house for a bacon sandwich!

Sounds excellent, Fern.  It must have felt wonderful to be out in the woods.  All that fresh air.  And, of course, the bacon sandwich!

I have trekking poles that I've used in the past.  Haven't used them post-op yet but look forward to it.  I'm doing the cane in the house and 4-wheeled walker outside.

Sounds wonderful.  Well done to you.  Xx

Well done! I don't know why I didn't think of using the poles before.

Today, I used them for walking around my garden. I still have a long way to go before I'm pain free, but I'm working on it. Good to remember that MOTION is the LOTION!

I also forgot to mention the other tiniest bit of news - I DROVE MY CAR!!!

It was wonderful. I used to walk there with my dog nearly every day pre-op. Even the old lady who lives at the farm was pleased to see me. She kept asking pre-op "when's your knee op" & I kept saying "no, it's my hip"! Guess what she asked me today - "how's your knee"!! She is 85 so I'll let her off!

Thanks Jennifer, I know it's still very early but I feel like I'm getting some normality back. Hope you are OK x

I'm doing ok thanks,  still using the one crutch outdoors as instructed by my specialist. I haven't driven yet but will tomorrow when I go to the pool.  I'm going to swim front crawl tomorrow.  That will be interesting. I'm sleeping normally now thank goodness.  Makes such a difference getting a good nights sleep. So all in all I'm getting back to normal.  X

Fantastic!

Tiniest bit of news!  Ha!  Extremely huge news!!!!  I can't wait until I'm able to drive my car!!!! Good for you!!!

That's wonderful Fernlady sounds like you are still improving every day. So glad you are coming along so well....Warm Hugs...Barb

Well done Fern its good when you feel you have achieved a goal 😊 xx

Thanks Barb, how are you? X

Bacon buggies are an essential regular in the great British diet, especially on a Sunday morning! X

Buggies? I think you know what I meant!

Thanks Laura. I know you still have a long way to go but I'm not leaving this forum anytime soon so will be here when you have overcome your 1st knee hurdle & when you tell us all how glorious your villa holiday was. Big hugs to you & your mum x

Good morning Fernlady,

I am joining the choir here !!! good job and what a great feeling !!!

and oh, driving your car is another big accomplishment ...

how do you make a  bacon sandwich ? is it comparable to a BLT?

big warm hug

renee

Oh well done you, it's so nice to be outside and walking, I've just walked the hooligans . I am ready for a sit down now though! X

have a good day. X

Morning Renee, well done you for joining the choir. I think I'd scare everyone one away with my singing voice!

A bacon sandwich is like a blt but just bacon, no tomato, lettuce or mayo. Just butter on the bread & plain old bacon! X
