Lucky me my surgeon not only made my legs the same length but is rather good looking too. Got the go ahead for a bath, so last night it was lots of bubbles, a glass of wine and kindle for 40 minutes BLISS!!
Getting in and out was slow, not elegant but no problem.
The only thing I wasn't expecting was to have to go back for a further x ray and check in 3 months time. Has anyone else had to do this
Although it might have to do with me taking him a basket of sweets from my sweet shop - maybe he's after a further gift
I had my 6 weeks check-up a couple of weeks ago and have to go back at the 3 month point (it will actually be 11 weeks and 2 days as my consultant is on hols the following week, but he's happy with that) for an x-ray and further check-up. If he's that good-looking, keep taking him the sweets!
hello mary the 3 month its pretty much commun, i am 37 year old i had my hip replacement of the right like almost 5 week ago, i will have my 6 weeks check up , on the 21 april,
Can i ask after that can i bend my hip normal? can i sit in regular sits? taking bath, doing push up lol
i need to do my left one in abot 6 month i had hip dyslapsia that never new untill now
I'm 41 and went yesterday for my 3 months checkup and I had an x-ray first then went to see the consulant right after it. It was just to compare with the initial x-ray that was taken the day after my trhr and that there was no movement of the cup and stem and that the bone is healing / healed properly.
My operated leg is now a little longer but hip is realining itself very well and I could see it for myself on the x-rays. A 6 month appointment has been booked now and probably another x-ray to follow too.
Fabulous healing evidenced here clearly...lovely sharing with you all in hippy Community too!
Will take first bath on sat morning....just hope I can get out of it.
Surgeon's looks I'm neutral about, like Poldark on tv...but his cornish love with red hair is totally lovely! Hope my scar is too when shown at post op appt
Hi Moi. I'd need replacement arms to do push ups. Never was able to do the flipin things even when younger
The surgeon seemed happy for me to do everything except breast stroke because of the leg/hip twists involved. Think that maybe a long way off yet. Front crawl and doggy paddle ok. I'm giving my high chair another couple of weeks as our sofa is so low, but the toilet seats are already out in the garage. I managed the bath by gently siding in with help and then on my knees and pushed up with my good leg to get out - very slowly.
Yes always helps to have "decent" surgeon esp. if has a sense of humour to go with looks! Ahh to be young again! Dream on...... I am tho surprised at how many have 3 month follow ups.. Here in Dorset, 6 weeks check but with physio only and next check up 12 months after that! Altho I did see my surgeon as has other issues.. hip fine but problem with muscles and tendon inflammation.. but that now sorted with cortisone jabs... so at LONG last can get back my life and into saddle:12 months since last rode. My mare with 12 months off also I HOPE will be glad to get back to life and change of scene..
Hi Mary, I had my 6 week check today and also been given the go ahead for a bath....... I cant wait. What I was disappointed with is they said 6 weeks to return to work and now they have said 8 weeks but as a rule should of been 3 months off work, why they didnt tell me that before the op!!!!! Had to go and tell my employer like dropping a bombshell, I am a nanny.
I have to go back in 3 months then 6 months and then a year until 10 years are up as on a trial they are observing me more as I have gone for the furlong evolution hip.
Im 42 and have also been to see my specialist today for my 6 week check up and also my checks planned 3,6 and 1 year appointments as well as ongoing for up to 10 years as on a trial.
I have been told today I cant go back to work yet as a nanny and risk of damaging my hip. Told another 2 weeks off but should of been prepared for 3 months off, I wish they had told me that at the beginning just mentioned 6 weeks!!!
One thing I was surprised at was they said I dont need to wory about the 90 degree rule just make sure that my opposite shoulder doesnt cross over to the operated leg????!!!
my surgeon also rather lovely, at my 6 week check - which i had at 5 weeks!- he said I had been an excellent patient to which i replied , while fluttering eyelashes, and you have been an excellent surgeon - no mention of folow up appointments tho I shall just wait longingly for a letter!
Yes, smiles and flutterng lashes... but when you think how they see us.. like a cow on the table ready to be jointed and what is "exposed".. not so flattering.. ah well.best not to imagine that scene
Ah now Valerie you should have taken him sweets - works every time, I think it appeals to the little boy in them. Then you'll bejnvited back every fortnight
Because the female anatomy is different to male anatomy, your surgeon, let's call hime Mr Poldark, says he needs to see your new hip in action, and takes you to Cornwall to a tiny hotel by the sea, where you and he do a gentle ten mile walk over undulating hills. Then supper, by candlelight, and he leans in and brushes a loose haie from your face and says both you and your hip are totally enchanting. He smoothly says he'd like to see a few floor exercises to to further check your hips flexibility though, and suggests you take your wine to his room.
