Hi all I have been suffering with md for a few years now, some days are better then others. I was wondering do any other people with md work and if so how do they cope with it all. I'm looking at trying to go back to work because some days I just feel lazy if I don't do anything.
Hi sarita I've been off work for 7 months going back on a phased return this coming week! Feeling very nervous but looking forward to some normality in my life, will let you no how it goes Abby
Hi Abby hope it all goes well for you, that's why I'm wanting to return to work. X
Hi Sarita. I've had Meniere's for over two years now and so far I've managed to hold down a full time job throughout. My work are very good though. I had to visit occupational health and have it put on my work record that due to the nature of the illness, I'm allowed to leave the workplace at short notice if a dizzy spell starts. Fortunately for me, I only live 2 minutes away from work so I can get home quickly
Hi Tanya, I have been offered a job and can choose how many hours I would like to work I'm thinking ten to 15 hours a week just to start with. It's working in a school. Do you think I should mention menieres at the moment or not? I'm thinking if I do they won't give me the job x
Hi Sarita. Yes this is the hard question. Do you tell them now and risk losing the job, or tell them once you've started? I would probably tell them before then you're showing you're not hiding anything. You're only going to have to tell them anyway once you've started. They may appreciate the honesty up front. I sometimes worry that if I lose my job, would anyone else be prepared to take me on!! Good luck with the job and I hope it all goes well
Hello sarita -- I tell this to people I write to on this site. Are you sure you have Menier's?
Doctors and hospitals are often wrong. If you have not had a brain scan to check for brain seizures it is in your best intrest to do so.
I was told I had Meniere's for twenty years. I did work most days. Many days I could not drive (got help with that).
The V.A. found my real problem. Seizures have effective treatment. Treatments for Meniere's are not very effective.
Thanks Hun think I might mention some of it lol x
I have had a ct scan and a MRI I wished it wasn't menirers though x
Were they looking for brain seizures? The tests I had were not targeted to seizures until I went to the V.A. -- their test was called E.E.G.
This was a long time ago now. I am sure they have other types of test now.
All of my problems are gone except the noise. I also lost my memory. Long and short term. I was told over time I might get some back.
Good liuck.
When I see my ent in three months time I will ask about this thank you x
Hi Sarita.... i continue to go to work despite MD. It is hard...I have servere hearing loss and my conversations are now restricted to personal meetings with people, so I can have them sit next to me and speaking to me. I also worry about onset of dizziness and often have to look for contingencies in case it comes.
Medication makes me sleepy most of the time and guess that what they call brain fog.
Thank God for emails and telephone message which I rely on now, as I find if hard to answer or hear the phone.
I wish I can just work from home and I will be less stress.
Hang in there. Review the work place demands and see if you can cope.
Hi Terence thanks for your reply the job I have been offered is working with hildren in a school. I am really worried if a bout of dizziness comes on suddenly. I don't want to take the job and then have to have loads of time of for being ill x
