Worried about cyst

hi, I'm new here, wondering if anyone can empathise.

ive had on/ off pain on my left side pelvic area since around Christmas, so 4weeks approx. my last period came on day 16 of my cycle, so two weeks early ( unusual for me always 30 days) so I went to gp. Sent for u/s scan which showed a 17mmx14mm cyst on left ovary.  I know it's small and they think it's haemoragic, filled with blood. I've had a blood test CA125 & have to go back for a scan in 6/8 weeks to see if it's gone or changed. I'm worried about my blood test results, been googling and scared myself.

thing is I've had two cysts and left tube removed before, one was 5cm an endometriuma and one was 6 cm a simple cyst, both from left ovary. Last surgery was 5 yrs ago.

is it common to keep getting cysts and does that make it more likely to be cancerous??  Also, I have quite bad pain in the one area from this cyst, and a low grade dull period type pain constantly, although it's small and it seems to make me constipated a little.  Does this seem familiar to anyone?

thanks

Absolutely! I have a small cyst in my RHS found by CT scan in November. I was diagnosed with IBS before this due to all the constipation and bloating. All my symptoms are the same as yours and mine is also a small cyst less than 5cm. I'm seeing gynae consultant in Feb. From what I have read on here re-occurrence is common. Louise.

Yes i have same symptoms, cyst on right ovary, had pre op appointment now waiting for op date having both ovaries removed, i am 66 so dont need them

Thanks for replies Louise and Brenda

im  just 43, did you both have ca125 test?

Yes I have the same type of dull ache period pain and constipation comes with it. I have a complex 2.5cm cyst on right ovary and seems to be bleeding in on itself. This is my first cyst but from what I'm reading on this forum it does seem common to have reoccurrences of cysts. I'm afraid of the surgery and put off by being told they would remove the ovary too (I'm 40 so not worried about more children , just the recovery period!) I asked if they would please consider monitoring me for longer as my scans were Nov & Dec, so they've agreed to rescan and another appt. I wonder if our symptoms are similar cos the cysts sound quite similar too!

Hi Natalie, please don't worry about the surgery, I've had two removed and it's just day surgery or an overnight stay.  My son was only 11 mths when I had the last one removed. You feel a bit bloated and sore for a week or so but honestly it's fine. Better than the psin from the cyst. Sometimes it feels like a stitch pain, just in a specific spot other times it's a diffuse period achy heavy feeling. Is that what you get?

im worried it might be something bad this time

Yes I'm 43 too, and I had a CA125 x

Thanks, I'm hoping that's just routine!

I suspect mine will be the same as yours, I don't know yet as they told me nothing following my CT scan other than I have one and its small! Trouble is CT was carried out by gastro dept and now I'm waiting for Gynae appnt to find out more. Mine seems to react to pressure, if I wear clothing that's a bit tight in that area for example or if doc examines it seems to set it off sometimes for over a week.

Sam surely will be ok, if you have had them before then I would have thought most likely to be more of the same x

Yes it def is x

Thanks x

you would think so, just worrying as I'm older now. I have endometriosis not sure if that makes this type of cyst more likely.  I know it can cause endometriomas ( chocolate cyst) as I had one before. X

Try not to worry Sam, it's hard but I reckon until they say to the contrary then best not to think too far ahead, i had most of the pain away from where the cyst is actually situated so they think I have some endometriosis , def like a period pain though

What is a ca125 test

It's a blood test for ovarian cancer Brenda

Unfortunately it's not a conclusive test though... More of a marker. Other things such as infection and endometriosis can also raise the levels x

Had loads of blood tests so naybw gad that will ask when i go to doctors next week
