Recently I have been very worried about my kidney health. I am 22 and male from the UK. About 1 1/2 years ago I started taking testosterone to help with my energy level, mental health and also to help in the gym. I took it around six months in total. However, I did not control my blood pressure. I know that at times it was 150/90 or higher as this was the reading when I had a hospital appointment for a separate issue (whilst off testosterone). I am concerned that the sustained high BP has caused damage to my kidneys.
I’ve been off T for about 9 months now, but am experiencing a lot of symptoms that could be caused by kidney disease. I often have strange-smelling breath (smells like urine), and my urine is frequently foamy and strong-smelling. My urination patterns have also changed - I urinate a lot less often now. Last week, a sore lump appeared below my nipple, which I read could also be a sign of kidney issues (although this could also be due to gyno)
I have had 3 separate blood tests over the past year or so (all taken in the afternoon). Surprisingly, none of them showed any problems, with eGFR being consistently >90. Does anyone know of cases of kidney damage where the blood test results have been normal, and can you advise on my situation?
Thanks for reading !
