Hi ladies ,just joined as need to chat about it as no one else understands.Jan 14 started with lower bback ,hip pains struggled in new job in nursery,but pains got worse more when lay in bed so took myself to a&e march ,x ray fine but found invisible blood in urine sample so took bloods as thought was kidney stone booked me in for ct scan,next morning pain unbearable ,i passed out rushed me a&e again given early ct scan found 6cm cyst on right ovary ,which was a shock,had ultrasound scan ,stayed overnight to stable pain then sent home.Told take painkillers be outpatient at gynae clinic ,my doc said pain not from cyst as not big enough?had month of work due to pain but had to give it up as couldn't commit to duties in busy nursery,so been so fed up,started light duties at my old care company job to get me out etc nurse there said risk of rupturing so be careful with duties.ive got 1st appointment with gynae next weds but had another for end May for 2nd ultrasound scan,but also had copy of letter sent to my doc with info I never knew cyst is complex with septum !!!!so now I'm worried still in pain what is the process ?thanks x

It is a shock, I actually went to my appointment saying I was not sure why I was there as I only had a 'small' cyst as I was told. It was actually a large cyst, but I have no idea what type. They gave me so much info on the day, I was in shock too and really didn't take much in. Like you the letter had many things I was not expecting.
I have also signed a consent form, but haven't actually seen a consultant yet.......again I thought about this later and wondered whether that is something I should sign at the pre op assessment, which is apparently my next step.
It is not nice is it, I am struggling with my job too as I find it hard to stand upright (I teach) so I can hardly sit down for the whole day.
Have you been told how long your wait might be?
Have they offered you anything more for the pain?
I find basic paracetamol does not touch me at all. Was not so pleased to find that the painkillers I was given last week may actually cause constipation (luckily not got that yet), something I could really do without given all the pressure in my stomach area at the mo.
I have been told I will be put on a waiting list of 12 -16 weeks, was expecting a date for the op, but have not been given anything yet. Have phoned a few times, but not got much info and they have not called back when they said they would. Also have so many things going on in my life, it is making everything very hard to juggle.
I really can't take time off work, particularly if I need time off for the op.
Have you spoken to your GP about your letter? Can I ask how old you are?
I don't think I can help much, as I am in a similar position to you. It may mean that they have a clear idea of the waiting time if they have an idea of the type of cyst. Pretty new to this myself. Hope they get back to you soon x x
Hi bek, I'm 36 , just been told to take co codamol with paracetomal or ibubrofen did try taking tramodal as stronger but knocked me about. Pain isn't as bad now as was when I got rushed in a&e march,nurse at my work thinks nursery job aggravated it as was bending over ,sitting down putting pressure on it.Got lots of questions to ask at my 1st appointment on Weds!
just a update,had my 1st appoinment 30th april met the gynae ,he was lovely and explained lots,ive def got 6cm septated cyst sittin on right ovary,and this is def causing my pains in right hip and lower back.He did an internal and stomach check,said my right side swollen due to where cyst is,told me to be careful and stay on light duties at work until my next ultrasound end of may,as ive still got constant pain in hip and back and risk of rupturing,and as its septated more complexed as a normal cyst!He said if it has shrunk when got to scan will book me again next month etc,but if has grown will see how much and measure how thick the walls are dividing it,and check if just liquid or mass or both.So still worried but nothing i can do till end may,just got take painkillers and be careful,hes also referring us to a fertility cllinic due to my age (37)to see if the cyst has blocked my tubes.
