Worried I have a brain tumour.

Hi,

Ever since last April (13 months ago ) I have been suffering with daily headaches. Alongside these my muscles on my arms and legs occasionally twitch and I very seldom feel dizzy. 3 weeks ago, the headaches stopped but resumed for a short time today. The headaches themselves only last 3 or 4 seconds and come and go at irregular intervals. I could get none in 3 days, or I could get 10 in 3 minutes. On a scale of 1-10 the headaches are a 1. The thing that's really worrying me today is since they stopped this morning, I get a slight tight/pressure feeling on the top left side of my head every time I tense up or cough/laugh. The one thing I'm trying to figure out is after 13 months of symptoms would I still be here writing this without treatment if it was a tumour? Because my common sense is telling me that I'd be dead by know ( or at least unresponsive ) if I was indeed suffering from a brain tumour as I never went to my doctor or took treatment. Do these symptoms sound like a brain tumour to you or just anxiety as these symptoms started last April after worrying about another health problem ( I am a 17 year old male who, apart from the headaches, is in perfect health, but I suffer incredibly with nerves and anxiety ).

I would greatly appreciate any response to put my mind somewhat at ease.

Thanks !!!!

One word anxiety

Thank you for tue response, but are you 100% sure anxiety can cause the pain while laughing and coughing? Other than that I'm pretty calm as I know anxiety frequently causes the rest.

Thanks again!

Hi anonymou. I doubt whether it's a brain tumor, but you should put your fears to rest by seeing a neurologist. My late brother died of a brain tumor a year and a half ago and it started with him smelling strange smells-he told me about it and I told him to go see a specialist right away. MRI revealed a Glio Blastoma (aggressive brain tumor) and he passed away within a year, even with two surgeries to remove tumor material.

But the point is, he had VERY unusual symptoms which progressed very quickly. It seems like yours are not getting any worse from your description, so it's probably just tension/anxiety. Headaches are very seldom symptoms of a tumor, but do yourself a favor and go see a neurologist-eliminate your concerns so you're not dealing with uncertainty.
