Hi everyone, it's been quite a while since I posted on here. I'm very concerned that I have got stomach cancer. I have been suffering from symptoms for just over 2 months. During this time period I have had a lack of appetite and when I do eat, I find myself getting full up and bloated very quickly. During this two months I have been plagued by indigestion and acid reflux. Also burping and flatulence. I should add that I am a 23 year old male. About a month ago I did go to the doctors and after telling him of the symptoms he gave me Omeprazole pills to help with the acid reflux. After a month this has not helped at all. I have made another appointment but at this point I'm almost in full panic mode. I really hope somebody could reply to this post just to talk it through with me. Thanks very much guys 😊
Do you drink Alcohol?
Stomach cancer is extremely rare in young people. How are your bowel movements?
Hi, sounds very much to me like non ulcer dyspepsia combined with visceral hypersensitivity. I'd say go and see your Dr if it carries on and ask for an Endoscopy. Endoscopy isnt that bad really and is over in about 2 minutes. They can have a look inside and reassure you if all is well (which I would imagine it will at your young age)
Sorry, meant Gastroscopy
I had similar symptoms, mine was constant belching and acid feeling . Got the endoscopy. Biopsy, catscan and turns out I have/had gastritis no h pylori. Mine was due to alcohol I think. Doctor said I had an ulcer that looked as it already healed too . Prilosec took almost 2 months to work for me .
I used to drink quite a lot as a student but I have majorly cut down in the last 6 months 😊
I must admit I've never had a good time with bowel movements due to being a long time sufferer of IBS. There hasn't been too much of a change from the norm. No black stools or red streaks.
Constipation or diarrrohea?
I have just been referred for a gastroscopy which should be in 5 weeks so I'm very nervous about what they will find. Thank you very much for your information I really appreciate it
Can be diarrhea but I mainly struggle with constipation
Well I have also been suffering from loss of appetite and constipation, as well as the gas symptoms you describe, I started a thread on it. I feel like my system has completely slowed down. Have you suffered any stress recently?
Do you have bowel habit changes or any shifting stomach pain? If so it may be IBS. Heartburn is also a symptom. Pain can get better after a bowel movement. I was diagnosed with it last May after three and a half months of pain, bowel habit changes, nausea, back pain and panic.
Try keeping a food diary. Common intolerances are dairy, gluten and fructose. Perhaps cut these out of your diet to see if you feel better. Ask for an h pylori test which can be done with a blood test, breath analysis, stool test and endoscopy. An endoscopy can also pick up gastritis. Heartburn and indigestion can also be brought on by anxiety. Worry can make your symptoms worse.
Consider celiac, You will have to continue to eat gluten before having this test. There could be many other causes for your symptoms that are not sinister.
I guess I'm always stressed due to my anxiety disorder. Maybe that is the cause of all this? I read your thread. Did your problems get resolved in the end?
Maybe, my symptoms started after a very stressful morning two and a half months ago, I've not felt particularly hungry since then.and my bowels have slowed up. I'm hoping this isn't just a coincidence but I am still worried about cancer, particularly colon cancer. I'm going private to see a gasto specialist next week as I can't deal with the NHS wait and it's distracting me from my studies.
