Hi guys! I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and last night did something I don't think I should have and now paying the price!!! On my own as hubby works away and only youngest son home but he works evening shifts so in bed asleep!!! My darling little cat decides to be sick under my bed in the very early hours I couldn't just leave it so manoeuvred myself to clear it up and obviously had to put some pressure on operated knee and experienced some discomfort whist doing so! Am now really worried I've done something I shouldn't have as this morning I feel back to square one with the pain and stiffness? Does anyone else suffer the pain behind the knee running down the calf? I had half knee replaced by the way!
thanks everyone x
I think we have all done stuff that afterwards we don't think we should have done but I think that our new joints are quite robust, just like us! Try and take it a bit easier today (easy to say~ I am also on my own) Lots of massage and your usual bending, stretching, ice and plenty of rest.
Lots of pain behind the knee and calf pain too is quite usual.
If in any doubt at all though, do seek professional medical advice xxx
flamin cats lol I too was on my own after a week full TNR and I jolted off the last step at 2 weeks the pain was soooo horrific I vomited thought id end up back in hosp BUT like mattie mentioned our jpint is very robust I think sometimes its a reminder to take things easy??? Im sure if you rest ice and medicate ul be fine I think we all nearly get pain behind the knee I think its our ligaments healing???? but you take care and like mattie said if ur in doubt seek advice x
Thanks Mattie I'll take your advice and rest up today! Not got much planned xx
Thanks Andrea I must admit after I'd done it I had choice words with the cat!!! Xx
mines just the same shes worse than the kids lol
Mandy I'm 17 weeks post op and having further surgery in 6 weeks, I'm still doing things that set me back (although my leg seems in a worse state than most due to various complications). I went into work yesterday. I am trying to get in for a day each week (my boss drives me as I can't manage the 60 mile round trip yet), the rest of the time I work from home. I tried to be really good and do my exercises throughout the day. It's not easy though and remembering to drink enough water is even harder. I'm suffering today. I can barely move my leg so doing gentle exercises and icing to try to help it.
There will be many times over the coming months where you'll set yourself back, just keep going and don't get too down hearted. Obviously if you feel you've done some damage speak to a doctor, you'll get used to the clunks and band of pain feeling like it's going to pop your leg off.
Make sure you keep on top of your medication, I think that's a mistake we all make and ice is your best friend.
i dont think you did anything to it every time you move different its scary , they have put your partial knee in really solid so something like that wouldnt affect it the pain is probably the stretch you gave it and the knee is letting you know it dont worry just ice it and rest best of luck with the recovery
Think that's my down fall I don't use my gel pack hardly at all! Think that's due to using a tens machine because having this op has set off my sciatica again which unfortunately is on the same side as operated knee!! It's really playing up today though and walking around is an issue unlike yesterday it just feels really stiff and swollen even though it doesn't look it
Thanks Linda I think you're right I just bent it more than it was ready for!!! I'm resting up more today so hoping with the help of my gel pack it'll help
