For about half a year now I've had itchiness and discharge(no odor, but white and quite thick) before periods and they always clear up after period (the symptoms don't always happen but it's been at 4 times they did). I'm suspecting it may be yeast infection, but I can't check in with a gyno until later this month. I've used clotrimazole cream ( used some inside too even tho it's mostly external) and the symptoms have disappeared but I had some spotting ( period was due to 5th but I have irregular periods). I'm pretty sure it's not a STI or STD since I've never had sexual intercourse or any contact. Could this be yeast infection or BV? I thought it may not be BV because there's no fishy odor. Also, what could I use as treatment or should I wait until I see the gyno for testing? I'm a bit worried about it getting worse since it's recurrent. The symptoms never last more than a day if I use the cream.
If you’re not sure that this is yeast infection or BV - I would suggest not to try to treat it, because these two conditions are on the opposite sides. For example, taking antibiotics can kill the bacteria, making disbalance between bacteria and fungus that are normally present in the region, and then cause fungus to multiply without control, thus cause yeast infection. The same principle can work in the other direction, if you treat yeast infection, but you have BV. The description that you gave is in line with yeast infection, but the doctor will most likely perform a physical examination before giving you the treatment.
Thank you for the reply! I’ll try to check in with a gyno soon. I’ve been a bit less worried now that my period started, and before it did the symptoms disappeared completely. Hopefully until I get in touch with the doctor the symptoms won’t recur.
