Worried that I may have oral herpes.

Hi,

I'm worried that I have oral herpes. Reason being, I kissed and shamefully had unprotected sex with a woman I know (it's not a regular occurance, I was drunk) on Friday night. I didn't perform oral sex on her.

A couple of days passed and nothing happened, and in the early hours of this morning I woke up (I sometimes wake up randomly in the early hours) with a mild burning sensation on the roof of my mouth, which may have later extended to my tongue, I'm not sure if it did or if it was my imagination. A sore throat was also developing.

I asked her if she's had a sore throat, to which she said no, but she did have a chest infection the week just gone. I've since caught that, since my nose is now blocked and I keep producing green snot which means there's an infection, right? I have a mild cough too, and the sore throat is still there a little bit as well as the burning sensation on my mouth's roof. I don't have any symptoms on my groin area.

Am I being paranoid? Could it just be a chest infection? I've never had a mouth burning sensation with one before. I actually read on the NHS website that STDs can't be spread by kissing. I don't know wether to go to the doctors, they can't perform a test if there are no sores I think?

Thanks.

I think you should get a test down for strep throat just to be safe and let the doctors test your mucus if they can then wait a couple months and get a full panel STD test

My GP thought it's the chest infection, but didn't dismiss the other possibilities. A chest infection doesn't explain the roof of the mouth mildly burning, though.

Am I just being paranoid?

No just tell her to test you because you having symptoms
