hello I have had pains under my right rib, which has got worse over the weeks. I was originally referred for physio therapy, I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment, during this time the pain got worse and constant. I was refereed back to my G.P for blood test etc. I have had a blood test and everything is normal and no infection. I have been referred for an ultrasound and have been given two types of antibiotic to take...since taking the antibiotics the pain has significantly reduced. I'm very happy about that but I am worried that I have gallstones. Has anyone out there had a similar situation to myself and what was your outcome. Many thanks
Fui diagnosticado con cálculos biliares en Navidad del año pasado tras realizar una ecografía que mostró los cálculos biliares.
Me extirparon la vesícula biliar a finales de abril.
Estoy mejor de lo que estaba, pero todavía no estoy completamente bien.
Mi consejo sería que si la ecografía muestra que tienes cálculos biliares, te hagas extirpar la vesícula biliar. Solo estuve ingresado un día y me hicieron una cirugía de laparoscopia.

try not to worry . I lived with gallstones for 15 years before being diagnosed .. They are excruciatingly painful when u have a colic vomiting attack and the low level gnawing pain is miserable .. But if you are diagnosed with them there is a long wait for the operation as they are not life threatening unless a stone becomes blocked in a bile duct and you would know if that happened and would be up casualty in a shot ...
Basically many people avoid surgery and eat a no fat diet to avoid attacks ..but I had mine removed by keyhole surgery day surgery it was the solution to all my problems ...no side effects .. So just wait for your scan and try not to worry ... Sally

I can't be out of action for too long I have two young children and I have been on a mission to get fit! This has knocked me for 6! Thanks again and sorry to hear you have been poorly too.
Thank you for your advice, roll on the scan! I have suffered heartburn for years after having my children. I have been working hard to get fit and I have dropped two dress sizes and now this happens! I'm so sorry to hear you had been poorly too and I'm glad your feeling better now.
lets know if your pain comes back after about four weeks from finish of antibiotics.
this happened to me and was written up in notes but then no follow up.
my specialists just write down what their previous collegues wrote.
my gp downright refused to give me antibiotics but here in spain you can just buy em from the farmacia.
Hola Kerry, tuve una situación muy similar. Terminé en el servicio de urgencias y luego directamente en la sala durante una semana con antibióticos por una infección. Después de una o dos semanas sin ellos, los ataques volvieron. Volví a urgencias, me dieron más antibióticos, pero no había infección, así que no me dieron más. Fui tres veces más y me dijeron una y otra vez que no había infección, pero tenía candidiasis oral y un aliento horrible, era repugnante. Yo también estaba en una dieta saludable justo antes de perder 3 piedras, y durante todo esto ahora he perdido 5 piedras y 3 libras.
Dos semanas antes de mi operación, se confirmó que sí tenía una infección, me dieron una gran dosis de antibióticos. Tenía miedo de que cancelaran mi operación, pero no había infección en los análisis de sangre preoperatorios.
Ahora estoy a 11 días de la operación, sin candidiasis, sin mal aliento, sin dolor. He empezado a recuperar mi vida y vuelvo al trabajo el lunes.
Si encuentran cálculos, como dijo Sally, hagan la operación. No estarán fuera de acción mucho tiempo. Yo entré y salí en menos de 10 horas y estuve de pie y caminando media hora después de salir de la recuperación. Se sorprenderán de lo diferente que se sentirán.

Thanks Hannah just had my letter for an Ultra sound so I will know soon what's wrong. I am not doing as much exercise at the moment due to the pain. I'm missing it! Thanks again.
